Gm #Amazon is still ignoring a major security issue with its #Ring Video Doorbell. Can you add your name to our petition demanding Amazon fix an issue that lets attackers disable Ring Doorbells? Research commissioned by Mozilla exposed that attackers can easily take Ring devices, including their security cameras, offline. We told Amazon about this months ago. We even showed them how to fix the issue. And when they didn't fix it, we published our findings and shared them with the media. But the company still has done nothing, putting at risk millions of people who bought this product believing it would protect their home. With your help, we want to increase the pressure now. Just recently, #AmazonRing was ordered by the FTC to pay $5.8 million over #privacy and security issues. Another big privacy #scandal is not what the company wants right now. Let’s use this moment and call on Amazon to fix its #RingDoorbells. Sign the petition & tell Amazon to fix the security issues with its Ring Wireless Video Doorbell now. Sign our petition → By ignoring this security flaw, Amazon is undermining the core purpose of its own product – while still selling it to customers who likely don’t know it is not working as intended. And the fix is simple: Amazon could improve the security of the device by supporting safer Wi-Fi standards. They could make the Ring Doorbells include a fallback mechanism if it spots unusual activity on its connection. Amazon could also have its doorbells tell users when they go offline, and send notifications when back online. Mozilla has long been a critic of Amazon Ring for its privacy practices, collaborations with law enforcement, and harmful impact on communities that are already heavily surveilled. Now, it seems that Ring can’t even deliver on its core promise to users - security. We believe that the products that customers buy should at least do what the companies claim they do. Together, let’s make sure that Amazon adheres to the bare minimum standard that products can't be disabled by bad actors. It also allows for faster and cheaper transactions by facilitating off-chain payments through a network of payment channels.  The Lightning Network has gained traction since its launch in 2018, hitting a total value locked of $140 million, but this is relatively small compared to Bitcoin’s  BTC  $29,487  $580 billion market capitalization. However, this oversimplification disregards that this scaling solution focuses on instant transactions, not lending, yield farms or other activities that require staking.Additionally, the number of #nodes has grown by a mere 6% since June 2022. This suggests that there are significant reasons why it has not achieved mainstream adoption.
