Covid is bad for old people so we locked down the young people to stop them from spreading it.
War is bad for young people so maybe we should lock down the old people to stop them from spreading it.

Back in 2011, Cage the Elephant had an Easter egg on their site where if you moused over the Twitter bluebird logo, it killed the bird and it fell off the page.
I miss the weird days of the early internet.

Bluetooth is NGMI. I might get a CD player so I don't have to fiddle with that mess.
I was a reporter in western North Carolina back in the day. It contains some of the most remote points you'll find east of the Mississippi.
There are places where you will never be found, dirt roads you never knew were there, and drop-offs you don't see coming. I've even heard stories of people falling down unmarked mine shafts. It's a beautiful yet treacherous place and that's without flooding and mudslides.
Praying for the ongoing rescue effort.
Apparently, there's a rumor going around that bitcoiners are freaks in the sheets.
Though I don't know if that's true (quite happy not knowing, actually), I guess that's one way to encourage mass adoption.
I'm sorry but a network protocol can't be both the almighty future of everything and so sacred and precious that its vulnerabilities can't be stress-tested.
ReplyGuy is good for Nostr. @Ron Stoner showing how follower counts could be exploited was good for Nostr.
Either Nostr is gonna evolve or not. And being a Nostrich should mean more than burying your head in the sand.

Why do all these defenders of democracy have such little faith in it?

Most takes I hear about AI these days are either one of the following:
1) It's the new paradigm and the only investable category if you don't want to end up working for the robots.
2) It's the greatest bubble of all time, requires garguantan capital and buildouts, and no ROI will ever be realized. Pain train's a-coming.
Honestly, the contrarian take is neither of those opinions, but a general thumbs up.
What if AI doesn't overperform or underperform but rather just performs in line with the most average value creation trajectory in tech? The okayest path forward. It's the future in the same way the children are our future. Duh huh.
Contrarianism only works if you're right, but I hope for entertainment's sake, we get some normalism here.
Well, my car broke down on the side of the road.
The tow truck guy pulled up and said, "Lemme guess: transmission."
"Yup," I replied. "How'd you know?"
"It's a Nissan."
The reactions to this Saylor podcast with Saifedean are humorous.
We're really surprised the guy who took out billions in debt to buy bitcoin is open to a future world with debt? No shit.
Every now and then, I hear someone say "Oh you know, bitcoin is still just an experiment."
That was true back in the day, but there is no such thing as a trillion-dollar experiment. Too much is riding on it. It absolutely has to work.
Popeye deserves better.

There are only two kinds of interest rates: rates that get cut and rates that are gonna get cut.
So an Austrian economist, a communist, and a bitcoiner walk into a bar.
They order a round of drinks and then decide to close out. The bartender is busy and refuses to ring them up separately. He asks them to pay on a single tab.
The Austrian economist reaches in his pocket. He gets out some gold coins and says to the others, "Here you go. This is just enough to cover mine."
The communist shakes his head. "How about this?" he says. "What if we all empty our pockets, pool our resources together, and pay the tab out of that."
The Austrian economist balks at that and the two of them start arguing. They both look at the bitcoiner to decide what to do.
The bitcoiner stands up from his barstool. "Don't worry, fellas," he says. "This one's on me."
He walks behind the bar, rolls up his sleeves, and immediately starts doing the dishes.
Chills. #tunestr
It's always a funny feeling when you stand there filling up a glass from your stainless steel fridge and you look up at the top edge and see pawprints.
After all the snap elections abroad in which people drop what they're doing and go vote, it's humorous to then have the U.S. go through the long ordeal of a presidential campaign.
Meanwhile, America has such an outsized influence on internet culture. The rest of the world has to ride along with each twist and turn on the timeline.
Right now, the nation is basically that person on Facebook who keeps debating out loud whether to get back with their godawful ex or the uninspiring android the dating algorithm coughed up.
It's all so tiresome and the most American thing ever.
Fantastic points from @rabble on Nostr deletion and how it provides an alternative to cancel culture. Revisions are healthy.
