I have high hopes that Trump will be able to turn America back on more reasonable track. But how would the Europe save itself?

About smartphones. I have been looking for non-google, non-apple phone for daily use that would run reasonable amount of software. Fairphone 4/5 with Ubuntu mobile Volla with Ubuntu or Volla OS or Ubuntu Pixel 6-8 with Graphene OS Xperia 10 III with Sailfish OS I paritcularly dislike the Unfairphone (not actually repairable as older models don't have part availability) Also Pixel phones raise red flags as these are developed by google. Is there any other alternatives? #phone #FOSS #grapheneos

I just finnished reading "Ink black heart" by Robert Galbraith aka J.K. Rowling. A hefty 1000 pager. I must say that I much enjoy the Strike series storylines. They increasingly have a similar vibes than Agatha Chtisties novels. However with this book, i did notice some themes that I think have not been apparent in previous five books in the series: - Far right extermism. Far right secret group consists purely of white men, most of which are misogynistic&violent&dum. They mainly do social media operations and send parcel bombs. - Bitcoin - The far right extermist group is called "the halvening". Bitcoin is used in the book only to buy illegal stuff from darknet. Usage bitcoin is talked like it is really shady "dark magic" that only true criminals know how to do. - Twitter and online precence. Twitter is shown as a place where most of the people maliciously hide behind nicknames. Most of the content spread is hateful or toxic some way. Peoples online identies are ruthlessly stolen, and the people private information is represented as easily explorable and exploitable in the internet. I am not happy on how the things are represented, but I guess this represents the state of public discourse nowdays. #books #bookstr https://image.nostr.build/1eb3293fc6240f32526ff38a13ed5a490740d636a689a5542c9e6edb56760ac3.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=257x390&blurhash=%5EKF%24X%7Boft5j%5D%7EqxuM%7BjsxsRj%25Mof%3FaogRjjbWCoLjEj%5DfloLRkWBt8WBxuofWBjsxuRjbIofM%7BWBxvWBxuayRQWVt6j%5DRkj%5BWBf6%3Faofazf6RkWC&x=eea8dc0c0f7fc2d509bf25b351cfb08a07ce9809916cdcf75669842c41c085cd

I just bought a bike trailer for my kids. I found a reasonable condition second hand one. It cost almost 200 euros. I still got a good deal as new ones with the same brand and literally zero improvement would have cost around 900 euros. Quess what the similar bike trailer did cost as a new in 2012? 340 euros! This quite simple mechanical thing has seen in average 9% price rice/ infaltion every year for 11 years straight. 😯😯 Insane.

In my opinion, community notes is a broken system. It is based on writer reputation inside the "community notes" system. Getting enough reputation requires that people invest in building reputation - not that they invest in buiding real world skills, knowledge or actual critical thinking. The system is easily captured by politically motivated minority of active users. No normal people will invest the required work. What do you others think? Could the incentives be improved somehow? image image
