i am usually the first to arrive in the studio
because i don’t do rudimental drills like a normie, i’d rather pick a song i haven’t played in a bit
whilst everyone’s still probably trying to get here, this morning’s drum drill is bad omen’s just pretend

APOCALYPSE
about 4 yrs ago, i was doing one of my first few session gigs in a studio in los angeles
during one of our late nights, i was sat on the floor of the rooftop smoking a fag when a skinny tall tatted up bloke with long hair walks out of the access door to the edge of the roof and stood there with outstretched arms
i really thought he was going to jump so without startling him, i started to hum softly. when he turned around surprised someone else was there, i smiled and said, “don’t do it”
he laughed
“nah, i wasn’t planning on it.”
and that was the start of my friendship with someone who is now an absolute rockstar
i wasnt born yet when this song came out. i heard it playing at home or in car rides often
the hook and syncopated groove is so good
i tried to play it
