Been a Linux end-user and Open Source Advocate for 15+ years. Know what isn't in Linux? An app that takes a screenshot every few seconds: #learnOPENtech #LOT #OpenSource #Linux #FreedomTech "Recall continues to demand an extraordinary level of trust that Microsoft hasn’t earned. However secure and private it is—and, again, the version people will actually get is much better than the version that caused the original controversy—it just feels creepy to open up the app and see confidential work materials and pictures of your kid. You’re already trusting Microsoft with those things any time you use your PC, but there’s something viscerally unsettling about actually seeing evidence that your computer is tracking you, even if you’re not doing anything you’re worried about hiding, even if you’ve excluded certain apps or sites, and even if you “know” that part of the reason why Recall requires a Copilot+ PC is because it’s processing everything locally rather than on a server somewhere." ↫ Andrew Cunningham at Ars Technica

I was like "Dude, that serape is far out! ... And he was like we only take fiat around these parts, and I was like ...Yo! I got #Bitcoin right here!" Then he was like "can I use $0.25 to phone home, and I was like, you mean Sats?! And he was all offended saying " not all of us can have that magic internet money, we aren't advanced enough...." So I just left and instead of a serape....I stacked SATs!...... #stacksats #StudyBitcoin image

Breaking news! 🍄 The New Mexico governor signed legislation that will allow patients diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse disorders and several other conditions to legally use psilocybin, or magic mushrooms, under medical supervision. More from the ABQJournal: The approval of a state-run psilocybin program will make New Mexico the third state to authorize use of the drug in such circumstances, following in the steps of Oregon and Colorado. Several military veterans urged lawmakers to pass the bill during this year’s session, citing their own experiences with psilocybin use. GM #nostr land! One Laptop Per Child initiative. SugarOS is a fun project based edu platform for about Pk-5th grades. One thing I always appreciated about SugarOS is the calculator has full scientific functions in it. She educators scoffed at the idea saying it was to complex for kids. I said, what is the worst that could happen, they'll learn something?

GM #nostr land! Happy Friday! #learnOPENtech #LOT #LibreOffice Here is another gov leaving behind Micro$oft Office for the Open Source alternative Libre Office to the tune of 30,000 PCs: "This is not just about technological independence but also about economic aspects. At present, our administrations and businesses are trapped in a system characterized by monopolistic structures and high licensing fees. […] It is a core responsibility of our state to be able to influence the operational processes of its IT systems at all times and to ensure the data security of its citizens and businesses. […] The necessary conclusion can only be: Open Source software must become the standard in our digitalized administration."

Jack's talk was amazing! One of the best directed to the world talks I've heard in a long time. For the ages!
