Too many people in photography obsess over gear and settings. None of that really matters. It’s about getting comfortable with yourself and learning to see what most people walk right past. The real job of a photographer is to make boring shit look beautiful.

Currently on a road trip for a few days, but I made a quick stop at my aunt’s place in Georgia. GPS took me through some back roads which I never mind. As a photographer, I’m always drawn to those run-down, offbeat spots that most people might overlook. There’s a certain beauty in decay, in places that feel a little forgotten or rough around the edges. Here are a few shots from the trip so far. I’ll share more as I go. It’s been pretty gloomy the past few days, but I wanted to get out and make some photographs anyway. These are from today. A little misty, so I had to be careful not to get the camera too wet - it’s not exactly weather-sealed, unfortunately. I haven’t been over to this area in a while, so it was nice to revisit. It’s crazy how quickly places can change - sometimes for the better, sometimes not. In this case, probably not. There’s been a lot more visitors coming and going to the nearby island, which means a lot more trash and debris showing up. Still wild to me how people can just leave litter behind like that.
