Took a few friends out hiking yesterday. It’s been a while since I’d been to this spot, so it felt good to share it with them. I had a couple psilocybin gummies before we set out, so the hike was peak beautiful with the sunshine we had. 🌞 Here are a few selects from the day. If anything catches your eye, I can make prints - signed, of course. 📷 Leica M262 🛠 Edited in Lightroom + Dehancer Film #photography #photostr #artstr #noicemag

Simple is good. Simple is easier. Simple is more profitable.

Spent some time at the library yesterday working on some art. As I was leaving to head back to my car, I noticed a woman standing by it. Turns out, she’d scraped the side of my car while backing out of her parking spot. Thankfully, it wasn’t too bad - just something that needed a little buffing. I stayed cool about it, which is just how I handle things, and she did too. Neither of us wanted to go through insurance. She called a cop to assess the situation, and he was super chill as well. She even offered to cover the repair costs, saying she could pay cash or card - whatever I preferred. (I briefly thought, “#bitcoin?”… but figured that conversation was out of place.) I took my car to the body shop around the corner and got a quote: only $50. I called her, she came by, and paid ahead of time so I could get it fixed on Tuesday. The best part of it all was when she gave me $100 just for “being a good sport about the situation.” LIterally made money from all of this which is quite funny. The lesson? Maybe not a hard-and-fast rule, but a solid reminder: playing it cool is always the best route. image

In most cases, it’s best to remove the superfluous. Small distractions can pull attention away from the essence of an image - or whatever you’re focusing on. The same goes for photography. Sometimes black and white is the better choice if color doesn’t add anything. Having both options in your toolkit - and knowing when to use them - is what separates a “keeper” from a “non-keeper.” I’m a fan of color - I love exploring tonalities and textures. But sometimes a photo just looks better in black and white. After years of looking at images, it often becomes a simple decision. It’s subjective, of course, but as Plato said, “the beautiful is easy to discern.” These photos were taken yesterday on a quick hike with my Leica M262 and edited in Lightroom + Dehancer Film.
