By fostering practical, hands-on learning, this effort connects over 40 villages, with a vision to expand across Thailand. With the support of the Thai Bitcoin community, this initiative seeks to inspire a new generation to harness the power of Bitcoin, laying the foundation for digital inclusion, economic growth, and a brighter future.

Open Letter to Nostr Power Users in Thailand
As part of our self-funded research on how Bitcoin can empower marginalized communities in Northern Thailand, we're looking for four individuals to teach Nostr to teenagers and young adults in the Omkoi region. We have approval from local leadership, ensuring a large enough audience for this initiative. Our focus is on introducing them to the most user-friendly Nostr app, Primal, rather than any specific client like Wherostr.
We have a budget of 30,000 THB to cover four round-trip flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, local transportation, accommodation, and meals for two days. Sessions will be conducted entirely in Thai.
The event will take place from Friday, December 13th to Sunday, December 15th. This date coincides with our Bitcoin Christmas Party on Friday, December 13th in Chiang Mai. While most attendees will be international Bitcoiners, our entire staff is Thai or Thai-speaking, and familiar faces from Bob Space in Bangkok will be joining as well.
The plan is as follows:
Friday, December 13th - Afternoon: Everyone will fly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. We’ll attend the Bitcoin Christmas Party at the Bitcoin Learning Center, where we’ll have the chance to meet and discuss the game plan for the next day. Accommodation is arranged in Maerim, about 30 minutes away.
Saturday, December 14th - Morning: A van will pick us up at 7 am for the 3.5-hour drive to Omkoi. We hope to run a class from 12 pm to 1 pm, if possible, as an extra bonus. However, the main goal is a second, larger session about an hour further into the hill tribe regions. This will coincide with their Christmas event, where hundreds of people from over 40 different villages will gather, including more than 200 teenagers and young adults.
Saturday, December 14th - Night: We’ll make our way back down the mountain to Omkoi and stay at a local hotel.
Sunday, December 15th - Morning: We will head back to Chiang Mai at 8 am, allowing everyone to catch return flights to Bangkok.
We would like the Thailand Bitcoin Community to help us select the four individuals who can best contribute to this mission, based on their availability during this weekend and interest in the project. We're looking for people who are fun, relatable, and empathetic—qualities that will engage and excite the kids, rather than a focus on technical jargon.
We ask the selected instructors to create presentations that fit this audience. Most of these young adults already use Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, so they are familiar with smartphones and basic digital skills. Our focus is on simplifying content to make it clear, fun, and easy to understand.
This initiative emphasizes practical, hands-on use of Primal, skipping the technical details often found at events like TBC2024. We won’t be covering NIPs, relays, or suggesting complex tools like password managers. Our mission is simple: get as many young people using Primal as quickly as possible, in an engaging, accessible way, without unnecessary complexity.
We need to get this right the first time, so I’m asking the Siam Nostr community to help us choose the top four individuals to make this a success. If it works well, we can expand this effort to other regions throughout Thailand.
We want this experience to be engaging and fun, encouraging everyone to use the hashtag #Omkoi so the world can follow and support their journey. Once a user reaches a certain amount of Satoshis (roughly 40,000), we will invite them to join our Slack Workspace, where they will have the option for us to purchase the sats for THB. Approximately 1,000 THB is the current threshold we came up with, which seems to be an ideal goal. We have time to refine these details together to make this project a streamlined success.
