Around 17 people die each day waiting for an Organ Transplant.
Globally, one person is added to the Transplant waiting list every 9 minutes.
📍 NEW JBBA Research Alert:
➡️ "Ethical Compliance Framework for Blockchain-Enabled Tissue and Organ Transportation Systems"
By Dr Elif Calik and Prof Malika Bendechache of University of Galway, IRELAND.
This study introduces an Ethical Compliance Checklist – the first structured framework designed to guide blockchain platforms in ensuring autonomy, fairness, privacy, and trust in Tissue and Organ Transportation (T/OT) systems.
KEY Findings:
✅ The #Blockchain can provide tamper-proof, transparent, and auditable records across every stage of the T/OT pathway – from donor consent to cold-chain monitoring and final transplant.
✅ The framework operationalises “Ethics by Design”, ensuring that data privacy, fairness, and #accountability are embedded from the outset.
✅ A real-world end-to-end scenario is presented, showing how #smart contracts, #IoT sensors, and zero-knowledge proofs can safeguard the entire process, while allowing regulators to #audit in real time.
This work lays the foundation for more transparent, equitable, and #ethically robust healthcare systems – where technology directly serves human dignity and survival.
