10 day until Lent begins. What are you giving up?
Last year I gave up smoking weed, during the Lenten season I had limited success, but over the course of 2025 I continued that work and have successfully shaken that habit. I'm really proud of myself because that habit became pretty entrenched in the pandemic.
I'm now pretty much sober: no weed, no alcohol, no tobacco. I am considering giving up caffeine or sugar. Both have become my main vices over the past year, I'm not sure which would be most beneficial to give up 🤔

It's going on two weeks my scooter's been trapped under 8 inches of blue ice. My old timer neighbors all swear this is the most unusual weather they've experienced in 70 years. It's so cold that even Princess Aurora doesn't want to be outside longer than 5 minutes and so windy the fan's been going by itself all day.
On a call with a friend the other day I mentioned how one of my neighbors couldn't even get the ice to melt holding a chunk over their burner. My friend said, "oh yea! I heard it's an unnatural storm, the government is trying to freeze the leviathan and prevent it from waking up."
"Well shit," I said, "I thought I was moving here to meet a man and start a family. I thought I was being guided to finally not being single and now I'm in the path of some biblical monster and government controlled weather weapons?"
"Did your guides say you were getting laid, or that you were getting fucked?"
Lots of laughs and a deep heavy sigh from me 🤣😭😮💨
Ok now I'm watching a Christina Ricci movie about a smart apartment building trying to hypnotize/ brainwash her.
I gotta say, if / when the TV starts playing upsetting scary brainwashing stuff. Just turn it off or unplug it! Or even just leave the room! That's the great thing about electronics 🤣 she just cowers and whimpers and yet still watches that shit, come on now.
I will say though one time I was at a hotel that I'm convinced was haunted as fuck and the TV kept turning itself on each time I turned it off including after I tried to unplug it. I finally just shouted at the ghosts to stop fucking around I wasn't scared I was just annoyed and wanted to sleep. It stayed off after that. Sometimes you just need to have a firm hand with things even high strangeness.
I feel really blessed and lucky that my first move is always just to shout "oh fuck off!" rather than whimper and cry and feel helpless. Strength or stupidity?
