I don't know what day exactly I came to Nostr but it's just about my year anniversary so let me do another #introduction This time last year I was a government economist who spent my free time on TikTok. I lived in the PNW near Seattle. I was unhappy. Now I've been self employed for almost a year. I published my own peer reviewed journal article, won a national award and presented at a national conference. I traveled around the country learning a lot about the reality of our national situation after living most of my life in the coastal cities. I finished a very silly novel which I'm still editing. I'm switching my tech stack to FOSS wherever possible because I believe freedom tech and decentralization is the solution to a lot of the problems we see these days. I also went down some super deep strange rabbit holes. My doctor recommended I join a "psy-gym" as he believed my symptoms were not mental illness but rather uncontrolled gifts. I've now accepted it as normal that my life is full of high strangeness from ghosts to spoon bending. I do a lot of dream work, meditation, and consciousness research. I'm lucky the power's stayed on and I can keep the furnace and space heaters going. But it's cold enough that I'm wearing 3+ layers of sweats on top and bottom. And every time I take off my giant house coat Princess Aurora tries to claim it for herself 🤣🥶🐶 #puppy #dogstr

I feel really blessed and lucky. I've prayed for freedom, abundance, and love; and what do I have now? I am free, making a big pot of soup and just got off the phone with a dear friend. We lived together almost two decades ago and still chat regularly. She was telling me about how much bread she's been making, and was running to the store to get dumpling ingredients as the new year holiday is approaching. We both agreed that staying home and getting fat off home made bread was one small step towards world peace. There is so much we can't control in this world but we can control our minds and our attitudes. If I can give myself and my puppy peace, then I'm one step closer to giving my neighbors peace. Princess Aurora and I are still locked in the house with a foot of ice preventing any errands or outings. But I have enough to make soup, bacon, cheesy biscuits, and cookies for the next month without resupply if need be. Princess Aurora has treats of every kind and we've been playing outside in the yard (until I get tired of falling) every day. Today I felt better than I did yesterday; I got more done than I have all week; and although my weekend plans aren't exciting they're a lot better than last weekend. Life never quite goes as I expect.
