As shown in the screenshot, I’m using Club Orange in the Keychat Browser. Many people ask whether Keychat is a “community” tool. Our group chats are end-to-end encrypted, which often isn’t ideal for open, public communities. Community tools can take many forms beyond group chat—Club Orange, for example, is a distinctive approach. We’d love to see more community tools available for Keychat users in the Keychat Browser. Keychat provides the foundation—managing identity and wallets—enabling smooth, secure experiences across Mini Apps. @Club Orange @Matteo Pellegrini View quoted note →

Keychat currently has three avatar mechanisms for users: 1. Default Avatar: By default, each Keychat user’s avatar is a cartoon image generated from their user ID. The advantage of this approach is that once you know someone’s ID, you automatically know their avatar. It doesn’t require storing avatars on a media server or distributing them separately. 2. Microblog ID Avatar: If a user logs in to Keychat with their microblog ID, their Keychat avatar inherits the avatar from that microblog ID. This avatar is publicly uploaded to a media server. 3. Custom Avatar: Users can also set their own custom avatar in Keychat. See the note below for more details. Currently, there’s a bug affecting the second avatar mechanism — avatars from microblog IDs are not displaying correctly. We are considering whether to remove this second mechanism and only keep the first and third ones. If we decide to keep it, we will fix the bug. View quoted note →

Why did we build Keychat? As Bitcoiners and Nostr users, we’ve always wanted an app like this — but no one ever built it. So we decided to design and develop Keychat ourselves, based on what we, as Bitcoiners and Nostr users, truly need. We believe many others in the Bitcoin and Nostr community have been looking for the same thing. View quoted note →

New users, regardless of whether they use iOS or Android, can start with Keychat, which enables them to try nostr web clients within one minute. Keychat can also serve as a signer app to some extent. View quoted note →

It may be harder to persuade the Signal Foundation to add Bitcoin to the Signal app than to build a new chat app using the open-source Signal protocol and code. View quoted note →
