An ID can serve as both a Chat ID and a Browser ID, or it can be solely a Chat ID or solely a Browser ID.

Once one’s online self is established, his two most common online activities thereafter are chatting and browsing (including using web apps).
Chat applications are the most popular in the smartphone era, while browsers defined the PC era. View quoted note →
In the Keychat Browser, using the Nostr web clients (for example, Jumble) is incredibly straightforward.👇
Keychat is not only a Nostr protocol client, but also a web protocol client and a Cashu protocol client. View quoted note →
Keychat’s Browser provides the best browser for all Nostr web clients.

User-controlled IDs and wallets are the cornerstones of Chat and Browser.
In Chat, users need an ID and use a wallet to pay relays on a per-use basis.
In Browser, users can log in to websites and web apps with their ID (for history and state), and use a wallet to pay Lightning Network invoices to purchase services. View quoted note →
Chat uses the Signal/MLS end-to-end encryption protocol to communicate with the Nostr relay.
The browser uses the TLS encryption protocol to communicate with the web server. View quoted note →
The new version of Keychat has added a browser tab.
Users can log into the website using their ID and pay Lightning Network invoices with the built-in cashu wallet.

When a person arrives in a new country with only a passport and money, they can manage to live there. Dining at a restaurant requires money, not a passport. Staying at a hotel requires both money and a passport.
This serves as the starting point for how Keychat thinks about the online world: user-controlled IDs and wallets.
If you also have a Nostr side project, keep going!

End-to-end encryption protocols with forward secrecy and backward secrecy have been developed for over 20 years.

In a chat application, do you prefer that others must request your approval before adding you as a friend or to a new group, or do you prefer that others can add you directly as a friend or to a new group?

Why doesn't Keychat directly support relay-based unencrypted groups in Chat?
Large-scale public groups without end-to-end encryption are a different type of application, similar to Discord or forums with a chat interface.
Keychat is designed for small-scale, end-to-end encrypted private groups, where most members are friends rather than strangers.
Therefore, Keychat will indirectly support relay-based groups instead of mixing them with encrypted groups, which would cause confusion. View quoted note →
