To help users understand this design, tell them that the ID and address are different and that a fixed ID should not be used as a message address. The address should be updated continuously. View quoted note →

We have redesigned the actions on the ecash wallet page. Users will have a clearer understanding that they can use the ecash wallet to make Lightning Network transfers (previously known as melt action), and they can use the ecash wallet to receive Lightning Network transfers (previously known as mint action).

There are already hundreds of chat applications, so why are you making another one? Because we are not satisfied with them. We want to make a better one. That's our starting point.

Maybe the client should also allow users to save reposted or saved notes locally. Just like a paper book is harder to delete once sold compared to online content that relies only on servers. Anti-censorship should not rely solely on the relay; the client design should also take this into consideration. View quoted note →

“Nothing about any of the protocols we’ve developed requires centralization; it’s entirely possible to build a federated Signal Protocol-based messenger, but I no longer believe that it is possible to build a competitive federated messenger at all.” — Signal Founder Moxie We believe that the messenger in relay mode is superior to the messenger in federation mode and centralized mode. Users should keep a local copy of their public notes. For example, by paying 5 sats, a relay would commit to storing it for one year. If after one year, the user deems the note to be very valuable, they can resend it, essentially renewing it. Notes that the user considers not valuable do not need to be resent. View quoted note →

When a user accumulates 8000 ecash sats(about 5 dollar), they can easily use Breez app to generate a self-custodial Lightning Network wallet. It couldn't be simpler. View quoted note →

For current Bitcoin holders, we first possess on-chain sats, then convert a small portion of those into Lightning Network sats, and subsequently turn a small portion of the Lightning Network sats into ecash sats. For new users who are not yet Bitcoin holders, they might first acquire ecash sats. Once they accumulate enough, they can have self-custodial Lightning Network sats, and as the amount grows further, they can then own their own on-chain sats. The order of acquiring sats is potentially reversed for new users compared to existing Bitcoin holders. View quoted note →

When we use credit cards, the bank provides credit to us. When we use ecash, we provide credit to the mint. Be cautious with providing credit.

Relay economy is the cornerstone of the creator economy. We need to first perfect the relay economy, ensuring that creators' works can be permanently stored by the relays and can be accessed and viewed. View quoted note →
