I had an epiphany on the origins of sexual orientation and have a hypothesis that I think deserves serious exploration. Research already shows a strong correlation: gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals report significantly higher rates of childhood trauma (abuse, neglect, family dysfunction) compared to heterosexual people – often 2–4 times higher for things like sexual or physical abuse. What if this isn’t just coincidence or reverse causation? What if some people are born with a genetic predisposition that makes their brain more sensitive to early trauma – similar to how certain genes increase risk for PTSD or depression after stress? In those individuals, one possible non-conscious coping mechanism could be a shift in sexual attraction away from the gender associated with the trauma, resulting in same-sex orientation. Not a choice – just the brain’s protective response, like developing other trauma-related conditions. This wouldn’t explain everyone’s orientation, but it could account for a subset of cases where trauma plays a role. Has this idea been explored before, or does it resonate with anyone’s experience/research? More importantly: Are there researchers in psychology, genetics, neuroscience, or sexual orientation studies who would be interested in refining and testing this hypothesis? I’m looking for collaborators, advice on study design, or connections to people working on gene-environment interactions and trauma. Feel free to DM or comment – open to thoughtful discussion. #SexualOrientation #Homosexuality #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA #Gay #Lesbian #Bisexual #Queer #LGBTQScience #Psychology #Trauma #ChildhoodTrauma #AdverseChildhoodExperiences #ACEs #MentalHealth #Genetics #Epigenetics #GeneEnvironment #GxE #Neuroscience #BrainScience #DevelopmentalPsychology #SexualityResearch #SexualDevelopment #NatureVsNurture #BiologicalPsychology #BehavioralGenetics #PsychResearch #AcademicTwitter #ScienceTwitter #Research #StudyDesign #OpenScience #TraumaInformed #MinorityStress #IdentityFormation

Why are there no instructions on using Coinos wallet in Damus? I used the one tap setup, it created a username it appears, then there is nothing you can click, no way to receive, no instructions. #asknostr

“Shocking fact: Slavery plagued humanity for over 11,000 years since the dawn of civilization. In 1860, at its U.S. peak, only 1.4% of white Americans owned slaves (nationwide, including the North). Yet whites were the first in that entire 11,000-year history to abolish it on a massive, global scale. History demands real perspective! #SlaveryFacts #HistoryMatters #Abolition #TruthInHistory #AmericanHistory #WorldHistory #HiddenFacts #Perspective #CivilWar #HumanRights #EndSlavery #HistoricalTruth #FactsOverFeelings #RealHistory”

I’m a deeply compassionate person who cares about building a safer, more equitable world where no one has to live in fear of violence, hate, or harm—true fairness means protecting the vulnerable above all else. Critics sometimes worry about overreach or loss of freedoms, but that’s just resistance to progress; we can’t let those concerns block sensible steps that save lives and promote harmony. All we need are a few modest, common-sense measures to make things better for everyone—nothing drastic, just thoughtful protections grounded in care and evidence. We begin gently: universal background checks on risky behaviors, red flag reporting from friends and family, and content moderation to curb hate speech and misinformation that breeds violence. Then expand to mandatory psychological evaluations, social media monitoring for concerning patterns, and licenses for potentially dangerous activities or expressions. Require registration of all communications devices, safe storage of unapproved ideas with liability for “misuse,” and designated safe zones free from dissenting views—schools, workplaces, public squares all protected by filters and detectors. Add waiting periods for speech, limits on gathering sizes, home compliance visits, and a national real-time database linking health records, finances, online activity, and social connections for early intervention. Naturally, introduce generous buybacks for surrendering privacy tools like encryption, followed by phased bans on anonymous communication and unmonitored assembly. To close every loophole, deploy ubiquitous surveillance—cameras, AI listening, biometric tracking, predictive policing algorithms, and social credit scoring that rewards compliance while restricting resources for the non-cooperative. In the final, loving embrace of perfect safety, we’ll achieve total harmony through centralized reeducation campuses for the persistently divergent, preemptive neural monitoring to prevent harmful thoughts before they form, and a singular state narrative enforced by benevolent algorithms—eliminating all risk of conflict, inequality, or unhappiness forever. It’s the ultimate act of compassion: anyone who opposes this journey simply lacks empathy for humanity’s suffering! Follow the caring logic all the way, and the destination is pure, unbreakable peace. #GunControl, #CommonSenseGunLaws, #EndGunViolence, #RedFlagLaws, #BackgroundChecks, #AssaultWeaponsBan, #GunSafety, #SlipperySlope, #2A, #SecondAmendment, #GunRights, #ShallNotBeInfringed, #Freedom, #Liberty, #BigBrother, #1984, #SurveillanceState, #FreeSpeech, #Censorship, #HateSpeechLaws, #SocialCredit, #ThoughtPolice, #TotalControl, #Dystopia, #WakeUp, #ResistTyranny, #ProtectTheConstitution, #IndividualRights, and #PersonalFreedom.
