"Not what you save, but what you do with it matters." Why? Saving money is a good habbit. Unfortunately savers are punished because of inflation. You need to save ▶️ if you want to retire, ▶️ if you want to have flexibility, ▶️ if you want financial security, ▶️ if you want to prepare to be fired, ▶️ if you want to prepare in case you get a serious illness, damage, ▶️ if you want to pursue a career that is not financial rewarding enough to live, ▶️ if you want to buy a house, ▶️ if you want freedom, But if you simply save for 20 years, your money will worth nothing at that point. So you need to have a plan, what you do with your saved money. #frugaltip #frugal #savingmoney #moneysaving #savemoney #grownostr #nostr
"Wait a few days before buying bigger things, and buy only if you really need it." Why? If you wait a few days before really buying bigger things you might realize you don't really need it. It might be just a hormone rush that made you think you gonna need that really. Also you can think about buying bigger things as: "you can get anything, but not all the things", so select the things you need the most, value the most, and invest the money you save on other things. #frugaltip #frugal #nostr #grownostr #plebchain
"Have a monthly budget" Why? 1️⃣ If you make a budget you can discover where you "leak" money. Meaning where you spend seemingly too much money for non-sense things, or things that you might not need actually. 2️⃣ This way you can set a fix savings rate, that will give you perspective how much time you will need to reach financial independence, or even early retirement. 3️⃣ If you have your monthly spending for the month at one place (cash, one bank account, etc), where you don't have access to your other money, it is easier to stay in the budget, because you "won't be able to spend more". Of course, you shall only use this source... 4️⃣ You need a budget to calculate how much money you need to retire early. 5️⃣ You need a budget to have a sensical FU money, that you can tap into when there is a problem, or to give you independence. (E.g.: To quit a toxic workplace...) 6️⃣ By knowing your budget, you could also think about how to lower it, so you can retire even earlier or you can be even more independent, because you don't have a lot of costs to cover, that can force you to take different type of jobs, or decisions. So lowering your budget can give you more options. 7️⃣ Having a budget means, that you control your costs. If you don't control your costs, they will control you. #frugaltip #frugal #fire #FIRE #financialindependence #retireearly #saving #FUmoney #FU #moneysaving #plebchain #nostr #grownostr
"Buy grocery once a week" Why? The more you go shopping, the more impulse buying opportunities you will have. This means you might buy more things (unnecessary ones) then you need. #frugaltip #nostr #grownostr #savemoney #moneysaving
"Buy grocery online" Why? When you online put together your grocery shopping list: ▶️ You can compare the prices easier. In a shop, you have to find the products, and compare the prices. You can't "filter". Online, you can just simply filter, and then sort by price. This can lead to finding the cheaper alternatives. ⚠️ Important: don't forget to use unit price! ▶️ You have more control over the total amount You can easily change products in an app, compared to running around the shop again if you find your basket too pricey. Also it is hard to find out how much the cost of all the products in your basket. #frugaltip #onlineshopping #shopstr #grownostr #nostr #plebchain
"Cook at home" Eating out each workday can really be expensive, even if you don't go for 3 course meals. Usually the problem with home cooking is the amount of time it can take. I found for myself efficient to only cook 2 times per week for 3 days. This means I eat the same food for 3 days. For me it is fine, I usually cook what I like. Tip: Freeze 1 portion of your food. (Be aware that not every food is nice after it is frozen.) And take out an already frozen food. By doing this, you will have to only cook every 3 days, but will have the flexibility to eat different foods. #frugaltip #grownostr #mealprepping #cooking #foodstr #savingmoney #moneysaving #plebchain
I guess everyone knows this, but better to reiterate on the basic things: "Compare unit prices, and not normal prices." Unit price is e.g.: price/kg, price/liter, price/ml, .... Why? Because something could seem cheaper simply by looking at its price, but it is maybe a smaller package. So if you compare the unit prices, you can get the winner. For those who pay attention to protein intake: You could compare "price / protein amount". This way you could get the most protein for your buck. Also just simply comparing the unit price won't tell you, which has the most protein in it for the least price. I wrote a script to get all the protein containing products from Mueller.de and their protein, so I can compare which protein containing product is the cheapest. If you want to have that excel (with price /protein), just ping me. Disclaimer: Cheaper things are not always better, and higher price does not always mean better quality! #frugaltip #plebchain #minimalism #savemoney #moneysaving #freedom #bitcoin
