Dave Smith:
“I was 8 years old when the US invaded Iraq for the first time. I have vague memories of the celebration afterwards. War hawks were bragging about the overwhelming success and how easy the whole thing was. We went on to fighting in Iraq for most of the next 30 years taking thousands of casualties and costing us trillions of dollars.
I remember vividly the “mission accomplished” celebration two months into the 20 year catastrophe that was George W Bush’s invasion of Iraq. What followed was a wide consensus that it was one of, if not, the worst foreign policy blunders in modern American history.
I remember Hillary Clinton boasting that “we came, we saw, he’s dead” immediately after overthrowing Muammar Gaddafi. A few years later when she was running for President, she wouldn’t dare bring it up because it was such an obvious, colossal failure.
They told us that the Afghan army would hold the nation together. They told us that sanctions alone would defeat the Russians.
They always lie but especially at the beginning of a war.
I’ve seen a lot of people celebrating the Israel/Iran war for the last 48 hours. Talking about how it’s going exactly according to plan, and how easy it will be to overthrow the Iranian regime and improve life for Iranians as well as stability in the region. Maybe they are finally right this time, and for the first time. But, they are definitely celebrating way, way too prematurely, and I see no indication that it won’t be a catastrophe just like the rest.”

I will be participating in exactly zero stupid fucking wars between Israel and the lunatic warmongering US govt and whatever country they think is convenient to obliterate so they can install a “pro west” tyrant.
