Value4Value Monetisation Model - Better than Ads on Nostr You've heard this before but if you are getting something for free, you are the product. Free services collect all sorts of data about you and your habits online, personal and sensitive data, then sell it to advertisers. The default monetisation model of the online world is advertisement, a model that relies heavily on surveillance and game-able analytics. Ad companies like Google, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, etc make billions from you and have created a system that encourages content creators to get as many people as possible to view their ads. This is click-bait and they don't care if the content is true of not, just that you have clicked through and they get paid. The Value4Value model flips monetisation on its head. It leads with abundance: information is set free; no artificial barriers or restrictions are added to the content, whether it is audio, video, text, or something else. The value is given away freely, and those who find the information valuable are asked to give back. People will give whatever it is worth to them. Some might give the a few Sats, some will give 300,000 sats, some will give 2,000,000 sats or more. Nostr Zaps enable Nostriches to give back to creators which is amazing so do give back to creators you value. And that can just be a follow or repost!

Value4Value is a monetisation model that improves the experience for consumers and content creators. @Odell and @MartyBent introduced me to this with Podcasting 2.0 and the @Fountain padcast app. Matt and Marty create the podcasts and release them for free, the Fountain app lets me stream and boost Sats directly to their Lightning nodes. I get value from the podcasts and I give value back. It's a great idea and now we're seeing it on Nostr as people are Zapping value back to the note creators which is great. No need for ads here! The lightning network and Nostr are amazing on their own but together they will be unstoppable. Just keep this Value4Value model in mind when you are creating new and exciting things in this space
