Senior Iranian official Kamal Kharazi told CNN that Iran is prepared for a prolonged war with the United States and will continue striking targets across the Persian Gulf to pressure regional allies to push Donald Trump to step back from the conflict. Kharazi said diplomacy is currently off the table, arguing that the war will only end when economic pressure forces other countries to intervene and demand an end to the fighting. Iran’s attacks have already disrupted Gulf energy infrastructure and severely reduced shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route. The disruption has driven crude prices above $100 per barrel and raised fears of a prolonged shock to global energy markets.

According to Reuters, citing two sources familiar with the situation, Saudi energy giant Saudi Aramco has reduced production at two oil fields amid ongoing Iranian drone and ballistic missile attacks on energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and across the Persian Gulf region. The move follows similar precautionary steps taken by Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, all of which have seen their oil and gas infrastructure targeted by Iran since the start of the conflict in the Middle East.

The United States Department of War has identified the American service member who died from injuries sustained during an Iranian strike on Prince Sultan Air Base on March 1, 2026. The soldier was Benjamin N. Pennington, 26, of Glendale, Kentucky, who served as a sergeant assigned to the 1st Space Battalion, part of the 1st Space Brigade based at Fort Carson. His death brings the number of U.S. service members killed in action in the conflict to seven. An additional United States National Guard service member has also died after suffering a medical episode.

The UAE Ministry of Defense has released updated figures as of March 9 on Iranian drones and missiles fired toward the United Arab Emirates since military operations by Israel and the United States began on February 28.
