Despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, U.S. military operations against narco-terror groups in Latin America are continuing.
The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) released footage and announced that forces operating under Joint Task Force–Southern Spear conducted a strike on March 8 against a suspected narco-trafficking vessel in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
According to SOUTHCOM, the operation was carried out at the direction of Francis L. Donovan, commander of the command. Intelligence reportedly indicated the vessel was traveling along known drug-smuggling routes and transporting illicit narcotics.
The strike destroyed the vessel and killed six suspected narco-terrorists, all believed by U.S. officials to be members of a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO).
Officials in the United States were reportedly alarmed by the scale of Israel’s strike campaign on oil infrastructure in and around Tehran, Iran, according to sources who spoke with Axios.
The operation allegedly targeted around 30 oil and fuel depots, triggering massive fires across the Iranian capital that continued burning into Sunday. U.S. officials said the scope of the strikes went far beyond what Washington expected after Israel gave advance notice of the operation. The attacks reportedly ignited fires visible for miles and blanketed Tehran in heavy smoke.
Senior officials in the Trump Administration are said to be concerned that large-scale strikes on infrastructure used by ordinary Iranians could backfire strategically—potentially rallying public support around the Iranian government while also driving global oil prices higher.
“The President doesn’t like the attack. He wants to save the oil. He doesn’t want to burn it. And it reminds people of higher gas prices,” one Trump adviser told Axios.
An Israeli official described the U.S. reaction as essentially “WTF,” while another U.S. official said the disagreement over the scope of the campaign is expected to be addressed soon in high-level discussions between the United States and Israel.

Donald Trump said that families of fallen U.S. service members urged him to win the conflict with Iran during a meeting the previous day.

Air defenses have been active over Sochi, Russia, throughout the evening, according to local reports.
Residents say falling debris from intercepted drones or missiles has caused damage to several buildings across the city, though the full extent of the damage remains unclear.
U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum claimed that Venezuelan gold had recently been transferred to the United States, while praising Donald Trump’s role in the country’s political changes.
“On Friday, there was $100 million of gold that came from Venezuela to the United States.
The people of Venezuela are gonna be putting up a statue of Trump as a great liberator.”
Recent reports indicate the U.S. government has authorized certain transactions involving Venezuelan gold and has been working with Venezuela’s state-owned mining company Minerven as part of a broader push to access the country’s mineral resources.

On Fox News, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham defended potential U.S. spending for military strikes against Iran, arguing that such an operation would be a worthwhile investment for the United States.
When asked how he would respond if the United States Department of Defense requested $50 billion to fund the strikes, Graham replied:
“Best money ever spent. […] When this regime goes down, we’re going to make a ton of money.”
He added:
“What’s it worth to America to take down a religious Nazi regime that’s trying to build a nuclear weapon to deliver to America? That’s a really good investment.”
Graham has been one of the most vocal advocates in Washington for strong military action against Iran and has repeatedly supported U.S. strikes aimed at weakening or toppling the Iranian government.
Q: “If you’re not attacking your neighbors, why did the Iranian president apologize?”
Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran:
“First of all, in our culture, an apology is a sign of dignity and strength. Secondly, he apologized to the peoples of the region for the hardships they have faced because of this aggression by the United States and the retaliation that followed from us.
In reality, it is the President of the United States who should apologize to the people of the region and to the Iranian people for the killings and destruction carried out against us.”
