Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel is “closely monitoring” developments in Iran amid concerns that Tehran is rebuilding and expanding its ballistic missile production. Speaking at a pilots’ graduation ceremony, Katz referred to Israeli strikes on Iran during “Operation Rising Lion,” which were carried out with the United States during June’s 12-day war. He said the defense establishment is closely tracking the situation but declined to provide further details, adding that one principle is clear: what existed before October 7 will not return, and Israel will not allow threats of annihilation against the state.

Officials said that approximately 700,000 additional files still require review before they can be made public, despite the Epstein Files Transparency Act mandating that all documents be released by last Friday, December 19. According to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice, a letter included in the latest release of Epstein-related documents that had been attributed to Jeffrey Epstein and addressed to convicted sex offender Larry Nassar was determined by the FBI to be fake. The FBI cited several reasons for this conclusion: the handwriting does not appear to match Epstein’s; the letter was postmarked three days after Epstein’s death and sent from northern Virginia, despite Epstein having died in a New York jail; and the return address failed to list the detention facility or Epstein’s inmate number, both of which are required for outgoing inmate mail under Federal Bureau of Prisons rules. image View quoted note →

Concerns are mounting in Washington over Chinese-backed investment in U.S. education following reports that companies with links to China have acquired hundreds of American schools. One example frequently cited is Spring Education Group, which operates roughly 240 schools across 19 states and is financed by a Chinese investment firm whose CEO has been described as a strong Chinese nationalist. Critics argue that these investments may be driven by motives beyond profit, warning that they could be aimed at influencing American education and introducing ideology aligned with the Chinese Communist Party, a prospect they describe as dangerous.

The U.S. Department of Justice this morning announced the release of 30,000 additional documents and files related to the case against convicted sex offender and trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, attaching a disclaimer to the release which reads: “Some of these documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 Election. To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already.” They aren’t even pretending that the Justice Department is impartial or non-bias anymore. image

Denmark’s Foreign Ministry has summoned U.S. Ambassador to Denmark Ken Howery to seek clarification over remarks made over the weekend by President Donald J. Trump’s newly appointed Special Envoy to Greenland, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, who said his part-time role is aimed at making Greenland part of the United States. Trump’s decision to appoint Landry without consulting Denmark, along with comments made by the president today, has reignited tensions between the two allies, amid what Danish officials view as increasingly aggressive—if not belligerent—behavior by the Trump administration regarding Greenland. image
