Signal is choosing to leave the EU instead of complying with the EU's proposed mass-surveillance law. We've already sacrificed so much of our privacy over the years—how much more are we willing to lose?
Why is packing the suitcase always the last thing I feel like doing before a trip?
Happy beautiful Sunday. I’m blessed to see another sunrise on this beautiful Earth.
Had a #Bitcoin chat today with my developer friend — the one who got a Strike wallet a couple months ago and started dollar-cost averaging (mostly, I think, just to get me off his back rather than out of real conviction).
His (predictable) takes on Bitcoin as “money” were:
• It’s still mostly a speculative asset, not a stable medium of exchange
• Too risky and volatile.
• Most people are naturally risk-averse
• Most Bitcoiners are in it for profit
• The U.S. dollar, historically, has been relatively stable
I used my standard lines to strike down these comments. How do you address these questions to your family and friends? It’s amazing why when it comes to money it’s so hard to show them why they are losing even though they see it. I get that it’s a change to a system as old as time. But throughout history money has changed. We are lucky enough to be witnessing and being part of the version upgrade in our lifetimes.

I love the panic that hits when someone’s trying to parallel park and I pull up behind them. If they can’t nail it on the first try, they just bail. Cracks me up every time.
Remember, even as Bitcoin climbs back toward its highs, it’s still far from reaching its true potential. Stay grounded, the real reward of Bitcoin comes from practicing low time preference.

Blockchain almost synced and I’m honestly shocked at how simple it was to spin up StartOS with a Bitcoin node. It took under 15 minutes. If you believe in Bitcoin, you owe it to yourself to run one.

Set rules directly on your COLDCARD so it won’t sign transactions that are too big, too frequent, or headed to an address outside your whitelist.
Rainy day project: seeing what I can get my spare phone to do.

Perfect Saturday: wrapped up the kids’ last soccer games of the season ⚽️. On the drive back, we ended up having a surprisingly deep, kid-level chat about how money actually works.
Skipped the Bitcoin talk this time (always gets an eye roll). Kept it to money basics and the cracks in the system. Step one: understand the problem.
Starmer: "You will not be able to work in the United Kingdom if you do not have a digital ID, it's as simple as that".
It took the United States 20 years to implement the Real ID act, which wasn’t a digital ID. How long is this pet project going to take? Maybe connect your bank accounts to your digital ID while you’re at it. I known a company named Equifax who can help secure your database.

Good morning! A new week brings a clean slate and an opportunity to choose positivity.
Sunday vibes: soccer with the kids, birthday fun, home-cooked food, and some NFL.
