I am doing some research on the differences between the E series and L series ThinkPad laptops. I am wanting to focus more on ThinkPad laptops with Ryzen processors. The big differences between the L and E series laptops is that the L series has two memory slots, which the E has some soldered on board and only one memory slot, and the L series has the cooling fan vent out the side instead of the back, which give the L better airflow and cooling than the E. #thinkpad #laptops

I'm completing a custom PC build with AM4 processor. Lower end build that a teenager started, but was not able to finish on his own. I do like the MSI Pro motherboard he chose. #PC #MSI #AMD

I'm editing a DNS bind9 zone file that was last edited in January of 2012, so more than 13 years ago. Feels a little weird to change that date by more than a decade. #sysadmin #DNS #Linux

Yesterday, I sold a refurbished ThinkPad T480s laptop to a local customer. Got an email from her this morning saying that she's really liking it. Always good to get feedback like that. I may be selling another ThinkPad tomorrow. Most ThinkPad laptops are a good fit for my customers because they are reliable and durable. They may not have the flashiest features, but are more likely to keep working as expected for a long time. #thinkpad image

You don't have to be completely private in all your business and purchases. Switching some of your economic activity still makes a significant difference. - Use cash more frequently, as it is pretty much accepted everywhere and by anyone. - Silver (and to a lesser extent, gold) is natural money. Silver works well with friends and family (keep the wealth close). - Monero is great for online purchases and small tips. #privacy #monero #xmr

My son and I are doing some web dev today. He's doing most of the work, but my role with guidance and feedback is VERY important. We are using Go, HTMX, and PicoCSS to explore a concept. #webdev #programming

I'm listening to ThePrimeagen comment on PewDiePie's Linux video, while I am on Linux. Also getting an earlier start to my work than usual, which hopefully will be a successful trend. #Linux

This week, I delivered a ThinkPad T540p laptop to a customer that I had upgraded to Windows 11 for them (not officially supported by Microsoft). Was giving them a tour of the basic features, navigation and programs... but LibreOffice wouldn't open. It wouldn't until I changed the "compatibility mode" setting for LibreOffice to "Windows 8". Here's a guide: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001894.htm #LibreOffice #Windows #ThinkPad

Testing a Dell XPS laptop that has a 16x10 aspect ratio screen (1920 x 1200). Other than that feature, I do not like the laptop. Metal exterior feels uncomfortable, at least compared to a ThinkPad. It only has USB C ports, no USB A. Otherwise seems fine. I'll install Linux on it and see how it performs. The owner gave up on it after it kept turning off on him. I think it may possibly work fine with Linux. At least it did with a live boot. #Dell #linux #laptop

While I am waiting for CloneZilla to verify an image, I may as well post a note. It was a decent day. I sold and delivered two refurbished ThinkPad laptops. Local sales. Both people chose Windows, not Linux. Right now I am upgrading a ThinkPad T420 of a long time customer. Still a good laptop, if a person's needs are not too demanding. Upgraded from 4GB 10600 to 16GB of PC3L 12800. Converted Windows 10 from MBR to GPT partition scheme. Fixed Windows errors with sfc (System File Checker). Now backing everything up with a CloneZilla image before I attempt to upgrade to Windows 11. That way, if something major goes wrong, I can restore it to how it was. #ThinkPad #Windows #clonezilla

Crypto-currencies have the potential to really change what has been called "the creator economy". Louis Rossman and others have said that having viewers donate a quarter ($0.25) per year would give them more revenue than they get from the advertisement revenue share from Youtube. However, for small transactions, the processing fee with a debit or credit card is usually 25 cents plus a percentage. Patreon and others sort of solve this, by having you pay once and can split up between creators you support. But what if you just want to give a video creator a 25 cent tip for a video you really enjoyed, but don't want to commit to donating again or to anyone else? This is where crypto-currencies can shine. Monero and Bitcoin Cash have tiny transaction fees, usually less than one penny. So it can make sense to send someone even 10 cents at a time. #monero #bch #xmr #creatoreconomy
