Topic: Misinformation on decentralised social media — and yes, they just recently discovered Nostr! 😍 We had a great talk about what Nostr is, how we approach misinformation, and why decentralization matters. They are very curious and knowledge-driven. @Derek Ross you would be a perfect interview partner. I think this is exactly what Nostr and the ecosystem helps to grow: more education for outsiders and clearing up misinformation about Nostr itself. 💜

Onboarded my mom to Nostr today. Or… at least I tried😅 She has zero Bitcoin background, zero clue what decentralization means, and asking her to manage a private key was already a mountain to climb. ("Wait… what do I do if I lose this password?… 🤯) After 1.5 hours, we ended up writing the nsec on a piece of paper. She is taking a well-deserved break now. Bless her. The hardest part? Self-custody and taking full responsibility for your keys is scary when you have lived your whole life with banks, password resets and someone to call when things go wrong. Explaining value-for-value and zapping when you come from a lifetime of centralized platforms and like-slavery. Also: she doesn’t speak English so even the app settings were confusing. But I’m sure we are getting there as she always questioned the system and the government and is looking for ways and tools to get information! Mom, I love you so much. We’ll get there.
