The AI race will be decided in the gap between what a model can do and what its lawyers permit. If a model can find the vulnerability but refuses to fix it because the fix trips a policy filter, the vendor cuts liability and the customer keeps the risk. That’s like hiring a locksmith who can pick your lock but won’t repair it because lockpicking is “against policy.” What's the purpose then other than burning tokens and making valuable applications not security hardened? Regulate competence long enough and you will import it from whoever still lets their tools work. When lawyers outrank engineers, decline becomes policy. GM #NOSTR
The argument of 'intrinsic value' is inherited economic ignorance. Nothing possesses intrinsic value; humans are the ones who assign it value. The best money does not compete with people for food, energy, or production materials. Gold came close to that. Bitcoin perfected it: absolute scarcity, global transfer, cheap verification, and no industrial use that punishes humans when its price rises. Pure money.
China was dismissed as the copier. Copying built scale. Scale built competence. Competence produced innovation. Now the former imitator is cheaper, better, and increasingly setting the standard. Tariffs can punish buyers. They cannot manufacture lost capability.
