image > How to Attract—or Repel—People: I find it easy to meet new people. Often, I come across like-minded folks who share my enthusiasm for sports. In Canada, I discovered a runner on Instagram who posts about cool mountain treks and trail runs in my area. Perfect, I thought. After following him for a while, I decided to reach out. He had two accounts: one for his outdoor adventures and another for his job in sales. 👀 The second account? Filled with tips on “selling well.” I have two accounts myself, and he quickly followed me back on both. Excited to meet new people and explore some running trails, I asked him a few questions: “How long have you been running? What got you started? How long have you lived in Canmore?” I wanted to know who I was talking to 🤓 But instead of responding, he only replied with counter-questions. His answers? Impersonal and straight from a sales manual. His job? Helping others make a fast 30k a month and become sales pros...🤠 The pattern continued: every answer I gave was just another sales opportunity for him. “Are you a robot?” I finally asked him. After a short pause, I decided to give him another chance to be authentic. But nothing changed. Eventually, it was too much—I didn’t want to buy anything (literally) or sign up for coaching. I just wanted to go for a run. 🏃🏻‍♀️➡️⛰️ “How to Win—or Lose—Friends!” This experience reminded me that building relationships—or selling—doesn’t work without real interest in the person and a bit of groundwork. Authenticity, empathy, and a feel for the moment are so important. Genuinely being interested in the other person. Sales skills matter, but without a relationship, they just come across as pressure. I’ve made mistakes too, even though I know how to connect authentically with people (sometimes I just need a reminder). Thanks to everyone who’s been patient with me along the way 🤣 🥲 A textbook only shows you the way—but only what you figure out yourself actually works. Proof of Work and all that. Real conversations build trust. Relationships take time. Sorry, there’s no shortcut. Or do you just meet someone and marry them right away? 🫡 ❓What do you think? How important is authenticity to you? Have you had similar experiences?

Home is where the mountains are. The year 2024 has only 2 month left Thinking about living outside of Germany since 2020 (no it was since 2017 while I left Germany for the first time longer) 2024 I had the chance to spend a month in madeira More than a month in Canada. And 2 months in Ireland Fell in love with all places Ireland is too much rain. Madeira and Canada are on the top level Winter in Canada might be too cold for me and in think it’s important to have clients / work there due to time difference and yeah it’s more expensive than Germany) But I love skiing 🥹 The mountains have my heart ❤️ Canada has a lifetime to explore I met lovely trail runners what’s really important for me. Will come back to Madeira end of November. I don’t want to be a full time digital nomad my whole life. I try to find a place. Stay, build friendships and find a new home, outside of Germany. Less bureaucracy Simply be left alone by tax offices and pointless rules Where people love and value their life and be nice to each other. I think the easiest at the moment will be madeira / Portugal as a European. So many ideas Have you ever been to Canada or Portugal? What are your thoughts on the topic ? What is important to you?
