The Paradox of Choice - Wikipedia

#grownostr #choice #freedom I think a big paradox #Nostr and eventually many free software projects (or even freedom as a whole) face the paradox of choice. We have to understand and accept, that our human psyche is not asking for infinite options. For our mind to feel save, it needs to have some choice, in order to feel free and some order in order to execute informed decisions. When I started in Linux I wanted to know, which distro to choose. And everywhere, I read that for every user there is some distro that matches his needs. But I did not yet know what my needs are. I was using Windows before. Means I did never ask myself, what Desktop Manager fits me best. I have never chosen if I want a swap partition, what Initi system is best, which package manager fits my needs. And since I never asked myself those question I did not even know, what would be important when considering the options. In the end I would argue, that good strategies to get people to use Nostr, Linux, Bitcoin or whatever kind of free solution, people need to present a clear vision. It does not have to be perfect. It needs to explain what problem is solved and this problem needs to be solved in a way, that is easy to catch up. When I fail to explain the problem within a minute, probably the problem is not that important for most people. And I should not flood my audience with a vast amount of options. Probably the other person does not even know the ecosystem I am talking about. So I should simply focus on options I personally know to be easy. Means I actually use them and know to explain all things blindly. People will eventually start to embrace new needs. Maybe they reach out for features and look for other options. But this is no primary problem. This does not matter while integrating them. New people need a comfortable start. So I give them the options I trust in. Not all options that are out there.

The question I ask myself, when I see this. Does #Netanjahu mean respected or does he mean feared? Since I would argue, that fear is a very shortsighted respect. While compassion for a group of people being respectful with everyone else is far mor long lasting. View quoted note →
