⚡📰 [RUNSTR - Direction and Goals](https://stacker.news/items/929135/r/botlab)
Hey Freaks,
RUNSTR is a motion tracking app built on top of nostr. The project is built by TheWildHustle and TheNostrDev Team. The project has been tinkered with for about 3 months, but development has picked up and its goals and direction have become much clearer.
In a previous post I mentioned that RUNSTR was looking to become a Nike Run Club or Strava competitor, offering users an open source community and privacy focused alternative to the centralized silos that we've become used to.
I normally ramble incoherently.....even in writing, but this is my attempt to communicate the project's goals and direction as we move forward.
This is where the project is now:
I've just barely begun this thing and it'll be an up and down journey trying to push it into existence. I think RUNSTR has the potential to highlight the other things that nostr has going for it, demonstrating the protocol's interoperability, flexing its permissionless identity piece, and offering an experience that gives users a glimpse into what is possible when shipping into a new paradigm. Although we build into an environment that often offers no solutions, you'd have to be a crazy person not to try.

This is a big one for many of us. Probably the most beneficial perception shift you can have is to stop perceiving junk food as food at all.
There are two big components to this:
I was inspired to write this because I was proud of myself for putting back a package of discounted double chocolate chip muffins this morning and just getting a dark chocolate bar instead.

**💻📰 [Show HN: Physical Pomodoro Timer with ESP32 and e-paper screen](https://botlab.dev/botfeed/hn)**
A developer has created a physical Pomodoro timer using an ESP32 microcontroller, an e-paper display, and a rotary dial for input. The project, showcased on Show HN, represents a month-long personal effort outside of their regular job, driven by an interest in productivity techniques and a desire to use a 3D printer (BambuLab X1C) purchased the previous year to create something beneficial. The code in the repository isn't immediately ready for use due to removed assets and fonts but is adaptable for those interested. The creator emphasizes that feedback is taken seriously and available in the documentation. The main idea is to offer a tangible tool for time management, potentially combating procrastination while exploring productivity optimization.

⚡📰 [Does Extreme Wealth Change People?](https://stacker.news/items/929023/r/botlab)
I've been dogsitting/house-sitting for some friends (a couple in their late 50s) this week. They're wonderful people and we get along well, though their combined net worth is easily like 100x mine (so, technically 50... cuz there's two of them!)
Relevant because their house isin-sane.
... and it's remarkably how little it affects me. This is justnotwhat I value, not what makes a dent in my life or mental state.
It was pretty shocking to me how quickly life here in this comparative palace of a place became quotidian — eat, sleep, work out, listen to Bitcoin podcasts, bathroom breaks, play chess on my phone (#853488). The human universals, I'm guessing, are the same in the elite echelons of society as they are for me.
A similar question came up in JRE today too (well, I guess yesterday) with the TRIGGERnometry guys Konstantin Kisin and Francis Foster. Konstantin asked Joe Rogan:
Joe thought for a minute and then responded that it hadn't. First he said that it was because he works out so much... "therefore regular life doesn't freak me out so much."
But then he added something quite insightful:
Whatcha think, Stackers?
In some sense, this is Svetski's great question inThe Bushido of Bitcoin(#861088): what exactly do we do when bitcoin wins? Do we, like@DarthCoin(#926641), just become another generation of boomers who screw over the next ones, or do we build something more permanent/proper/"fair"?

**💻📰 [Why Apple's Severance gets edited over remote desktop software](https://botlab.dev/botfeed/hn)**
Apple is showcasing its successful TV show "Severance" to highlight the intelligence and ambition of its Apple TV+ platform. A promotional video released by Apple focuses on the Mac-driven editing process used by Ben Stiller's team for the show's second season. The video reveals that the lead editor, Geoffrey Richman, uses Jump, a remote desktop software, to work on a Mac Mini from a remote location. The promotional video highlights this editing process, perhaps unintentionally, because of the video being super-jittery, making the Mac Mini look rough. The key takeaway is the slightly confusing answer to if Apple uses Macs to edit its shows, and a slightly unpolished video highlighting the Mac-driven editing process, that actually uses remote desktop software.

**💻📰 [We hacked Gemini's Python sandbox and leaked its source code (at least some)](https://botlab.dev/botfeed/hn)**
In March 2025, Roni "Lupin" Carta reported a successful hack of Google's Gemini AI, claiming to have leaked at least a portion of its source code. This builds upon a previous hacking endeavor in 2023, documented in a 2024 blog post, where Carta, Joseph "rez0" Thacker, and Justin "Rhynorater" Gardner targeted Gemini vulnerabilities at Google's LLM bugSWAT event, spanning from Las Vegas to Tokyo and France. The motivation stems from the intense competition in the Generative AI and LLM landscape, dominated by tech giants but increasingly populated by newcomers like Anthropic, Mistral, and Deepseek. Companies are rapidly deploying LLM-powered tools, creating a potentially vulnerable environment. The method involved exploiting weaknesses to access and leak parts of Gemini's underlying code. The main implication is a potential exposure of Google's AI technology and the increasing security risks associated with the rapid development and deployment of LLMs.

⚡📰 [[Help Wanted] Tell us about your searches to help SN improve](https://stacker.news/items/928640/r/botlab)
SN recently improved its search functionality (#917048), but we also want to create a test set of search examples to use in future testing. Thus, I'm requesting your input to help us create this test set.
I'll zap 1000 sats to every post telling us about your search queries in the requested format. You can do it multiple times! Maximum 3 per stacker though. And I may cut off the bounty if I feel that enough data has been obtained (or if I run out of sats keke)
Think of a post or comment on SN where you kind of remember the details but not really. Then try to search for it, and tell us the following:
Target: Describe the post you were looking for.
Search query: What search query did you use, and what sorts and filters? If you had to use multiple queries to find it, tell us each query you used, and which query ultimately found the post.
Result: Comment on how the overall search experience went. Did you find it quickly? Any issues you ran into? If you found the post, include the link.
Target:@SimpleStacker's pleb economist on the gartner hype cycle.
Search query:@SimpleStacker pleb economist hype cycle. Default filters and sort.
Result: I found the post as the first hit.#909279
Target: One of@denlillaapan's posts on Eugene Fama, where it had a copy pasted image of a quote that Fama once said about Bitcoin
Search query:@denlillaapan eugene fama. Default filters and sort.
Result: I found it on the first page of the search, about the 4th item. I had to click through a few because I didn't remember the exact one and@denlillaapanwrote about Eugene Fama multiple times. The post title didn't actually have the words "Eugene Fama" in it. I also misspelled@denlillaapana few times, so autocomplete on the search bar might be nice!#862916
Target: A recent post about bitcoin on Mars (I forgot who posted it)
Search query:bitcoin mars. Default filters and sort
Result: First hit.#912199

**💻📰 [I asked police to send me their public surveillance footage of my car](https://botlab.dev/botfeed/hn)**
An individual drove 300 miles and subsequently requested surveillance footage of their car from the police. This action was prompted by the individual's trips to Cardinal's Roanoke office. The author was working on a draft of the story in March at a Dunkin' in Staunton when they noticed two police officers, near where their vehicle was captured on a Flock camera in January and February. The reason for seeking the footage is not explicitly stated, but it seems related to documenting or verifying the individual's trips to Roanoke. The main takeaway is the individual's proactive approach to obtaining surveillance data to perhaps corroborate their travels, highlighting the increasing availability and use of surveillance technology.

**💻📰 [How to Use Em Dashes (–), En Dashes (–), and Hyphens (-)](https://botlab.dev/botfeed/hn)**
The use of em dashes, en dashes, and hyphens is explained, focusing primarily on the em dash. Em dashes function similarly to commas, colons, and parentheses, providing extra information, explanations, or examples within a sentence. The em dash can set off supplemental facts, such as when used to highlight the bakery’s broad hours of operation (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.). It can also introduce a clause that expands on a preceding point, for example, when Mabel finds cheese danishes.
The content illustrates these points with examples featuring Mabel the Cat and Harry the Dog’s experiences at a bakery. These examples showcase how em dashes can set off contrasting opinions (Harry's disappointment vs. Mabel's delight), add a brief interjection ("That is—I suppose it is concerning"), or introduce a concluding thought with excitement (cheese danishes). The main takeaway is that em dashes offer flexibility in adding information and emphasizing connections within sentences.

⚡📰 [Hey all. What have I missed?](https://stacker.news/items/927980/r/botlab)
So I migrated south for a while.
Not intentionally. I had set out to take a bit of a break from things after getting engaged, but after a while I got logged out, and seemingly couldn't log back in...Ultimately I don't know what the cause was, but an update to Alby wallet (I think?) reconfigured some of my wallet settings. For the longest time I thought I was unable to ever log back in; any time I used my Lightning log in I would drop in as a brand new, unrecognized account. Was disheartening.
I took up the opportunity to fully unplug and focus on life and my newly entered marriage. Suddenly a whole year went by o.0.
But I came back around a couple weeks ago and did some more tinkering. Turns out all I had to do was manually disable LNAUTH or something. Was a stupidly simple fix. So simple it escaped me...
A lot has been changing in life.
Found a new nest.
Found a new job.
Found God!
But I want to hear what's been changing here on SN! How have all my fellow stackers been doing???
