I’m recording a Nostr Talks pod next week with a repeat guest. A lot to catch up in including some profound thinking on the overall architecture of Nostr apps. I can’t wait for the conversation and can’t wait to share it with you! 🤙
Nostr Talks: @hodlbod on Christianity, Relay commoditization, and Subreddit-like things on Nostr
I got a chance to catch up with Hodlbod, one of the original client developers on Nostr. We started by talking about how he sees his work on Nostr through the lens of Christianity (and his new podcast Thank God For Nostr which goes deeper on that). We also went deeper to discuss how much relay selection should be visible to users and how relay commoditization and competition might work in the future. Finally we did a deep brainstorm around relays and how they could fit into a Subreddit-like/Zine-like thing on Nostr.

this is great advice. everyone developing a new feature/app/service should make a video explaining the purpose/problem/demoing the current software. don’t worry about polish/editing. just get something out!
each time you add a new feature make a new short video to demo/explain View quoted note →
PV! 🤙
I just heard the good news that one of my fav Nostr developers and one of my fav Nostr designers might be collaborating to bring a radical new product to life.
let’s think more about a post-App-Store world 💫
Nostr Talks: @npub12u39...3e62 and Mark Harding on building Minds.com
Minds.com is one of the original approaches to building a social networking service that seeks to empower users with more freedom (e.g., free speech, portable identities, etc.). Beginning over 10 years ago they’ve evolved the service to play a role in the modern architecture we’re exploring with Nostr. After Bill’s recent appearance talking about Nostr on Joe Rogan’s podcast we got a chance to dig deeper on the key philosophical and technical principles behind their work and how they think about Nostr. We were also lucky to include Mark Harding who is CTO of Minds.

Threads is really well executed.
I don’t love anything about the architecture (or the company that runs it), but I’m hopeful that they won’t backpedal on the “fediverse” commitment and that’s just a rhyme away from Nostr. So it could prove to be a good gateway to decentralization for a wider audience.
Primal took their leading client UX and open sourced the whole web app. Kudos to @miljan and team on this move.
I love how Nostr enables us to explore different UX/decentralization tradeoffs. We’ll find better paths and serve more users this way. View quoted note →
