Today we picked up the first olive oil from our local organic press - this year's harvest batch no. 1 and we expect at least 2-3 more batches of around the same size. Of course we did our traditional tasting with fresh bread and sea salt and ... mmmhhh ... it tastes so young, spicy and healthy!! Over time it becomes more rounded, soft and clear which most people prefer. But I love the punch of this first, fresh, green-thick oil. Good morning ☀︎ Pomegranates have always been one of my favorite fruits, but during most of my life they were only available during a short time window in the winter and really expensive. But now, here in Greece, they are growing all around. The ripe trees look as if they had bright red Christmas balls hanging on them. It's so beautiful! There's a technique to remove the juicy seeds easily from the fruit which I learned here. Cut the fruit in half horizontally, like along the equator, and then with a wooden spoon or a ladle hit the outside skin in different spots more or less gently. Then the seeds will fall out one by one. Saves so much time and you can enjoy spoonfulls of yumminess! #pomegranates #offgrid #harvest #fruits #health #naturalliving
