In a new theory, Daryl Janzen, a physicist at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, questions whether we’ve mistaken mathematical inevitability for physical reality, and shows how much of our black hole story rests on that quiet leap.

There’s nothing to worry about, Google tells Gmail’s 2 billion users, everything is fine. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. There is a serious issue that you need to worry about. All the misleading headlines and quickfire denials have not made that go away. In recent weeks we have seen two versions of the same pattern. A loosely framed Gmail story triggering wild headlines and a public correction. First was a huge security breach framed as a new Gmail password leak. Then came a new Google policy on AI training.

Scientists have searched for dark matter for decades & may have found a glimpse Few things in the universe are as perplexing as dark matter — the invisible and exotic “stuff” that is thought to make up most of the matter in galaxies. The theory goes like this: To reconcile our current understanding of physics with what we observe in the cosmos, there must be massive amounts of matter that we can’t see. Scientists are sure that this “missing matter” exists because of the gravitational effects it exerts, but detecting it firsthand has eluded scientists, who have had to indirectly infer how dark matter occupies the universe.
