Archaeologists Found a Slab—With the Lord’s Prayer Carved in It In 2018, the toppling of a tree near the township of Wawa, Ontario, revealed a rectangular piece of bedrock (about four feet by nearly five feet) etched with 225 symbols alongside a depiction of a Viking longboat. Eventually, a local historian came across the odd finding—now known as the Wawa Runestone—and reported the find to the Ontario Centre for Archaeological Education (OCARE).

Revolutionary new battery lasts longer, charges more efficiently & heals itself Aging batteries have long frustrated both scientists and users. But a recent study brings promising news. A new approach based on oxygen-redox (OR) chemistry could make batteries last longer, charge more efficiently, and even heal themselves. Behind this shift is a deeper understanding of how disorder in materials can be used—not avoided—to improve performance.

First map of the brain's mitochondria may explain cognitive decline Mitochondria are tiny, membrane‑bound organelles that act as the power stations of brain cells. The energy they produce is critical in the brain as this organ consumes roughly 20 percent of the body’s resting energy budget. Until now, no one had measured how these organelles are arranged across the brain in three dimensions, which left a gap between the knowledge of cellular biology and the understanding of mental feats that rise or fall with age.

Y chromosome disappearance finds direct link to much greater cancer risk Men inherit their Y chromosome much the way families pass down a favorite pocketknife – practically unchanged from father to son. For decades, biologists treated this tiny stretch of DNA as little more than a switch for making testes. Recent work flips that idea on its head. The Y chromosome turns out to influence immune function, cancer risk, and even how long a man might live.

200+ Trojanized GitHub Repositories Found in Campaign Targeting Gamers and Devs Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a new campaign in which the threat actors have published more than 67 GitHub repositories that claim to offer Python-based hacking tools, but deliver trojanized payloads instead. The activity, codenamed Banana Squad by ReversingLabs, is assessed to be a continuation of a rogue Python campaign that was identified in 2023 as targeting the Python Package Index (PyPI) repository with bogus packages that were downloaded over 75,000 times and came with information-stealing capabilities on Windows systems.

NASA Provides Latest Axiom Mission 4 Launch, Station Operations Update NASA, Axiom Space, and SpaceX continue reviewing launch opportunities for Axiom Mission 4 to the International Space Station. NASA has made the decision to stand down from a launch on Sunday, June 22, and will target a new launch date in the coming days. The space agency needs additional time to continue evaluating International Space Station operations after recent repair work in the aft (back) most segment of the orbital laboratory’s Zvezda service module. Because of the space station’s interconnected and interdependent systems, NASA wants to ensure the station is ready for additional crew members, and the agency is taking the time necessary to review data.

No, the 16 billion credentials leak is not a new data breach News broke today of a "mother of all breaches," sparking wide media coverage filled with warnings and fear-mongering. However, it appears to be a compilation of previously leaked credentials stolen by infostealers, exposed in data breaches, and via credential stuffing attacks. To be clear, this is not a new data breach, or a breach at all, and the websites involved were not recently compromised to steal these credentials.
