The dictators at Simplex are at it again. They say chat relays will be desktop only & completely refuse to make it work mobile. When showing them Citrine & how it's used for hosting Nostr relays on Android & Tyr which is a mobile email server on Android. Instead of receiving insightful thoughts like I hoped for I got the typical bs.
It's impossible
Nostr doesn't generally let you use your own relays,
clients don't allow you to choose relays,
it's unstable mobile,
we're just not doing it!
Then I get threatened to be banned & am being called a troll all because I want to know what the explanation is? Don't you hate when a dev thinks their above explanation? You run a service you will always have feedback & people wanting to know why. When you decide or make changes that affect the people who use the service you owe an explanation & if you think you don't then you shouldn't be operating a service because you clearly cannot handle customer support.
That's okay though they can refuse all they want while you can self host your relay with Citrine
Then go to 0xChat & add your relay.
OMFG we just did what was "impossible" according to some people. The future is mobile everyones going to be on the go & with a mobile device. We need to encourage self hosting via mobile & not desktop only.
Most developers today are scared to tackle this because it's a new ball park for them & they tend to stick to what they know as they don't want to look like newbies or fools trying to code in territory they never done before or have nothing to reference it by. So they make excuses about how it's not possible, unfeesable, not worth the time, or people wouldn't use excuse. Any excuse they can come up with in the book just to prevent themselves from facing a real challenge.
We need new developers stepping up to the plate to replace all the snowflake ones. Someone will do what they fail to eventually. To the one who starts creating the standard of mobile self hosting simplified first may the spoils of wealth & glory go to the winner.
