Most of us have seen the video of the Biden's chair of economic advisors stumbling painfully over the question of why we need to borrow money if we can print money. If you haven't seen it, it's worth a look - absolutely hilarious. (Link below but I don't know how to clean it of trackers.)
I think the answer is that the Treasury that needs to write the checks, and it's the Fed Reserve (and banks) - not branches of the federal govt - that actually print the money. Right? So there's this ridiculous dance of the Treasury trying to sell bonds, and if not enough people/country/funds are interested, the Fed prints money to buy them.
Is that about right?

Violinist and teacher, building a homestead on raw land in between lessons and concerts. Fascinated by how we can develop resilience in our lives, in our families, in our communities.
I'm excited about freedom tech and circular economies, and am deeply grateful for the devs and advocates who are helping build tools for a better future.

My husband and I watched Fargo a while ago. The last season was fun, but the programming was quite something: the bad guy - violent, corrupt, power-hungry, domestic abuser - was also: libertarian, rancher, sheriff, 2A advocate, prepper, Christian, anti-institutional. He believed in local over federal authority, freedom, the Constitution, self sovereignty and he railed against the tyranny of the state.
This is probably more powerful as an indoctrination tool than a thousand stupid news articles.
There's good substack about this from Gato Malo today. That cancelled show looks like a doozy.

🤯 I just listened to most of the White House press conference on autism and was happily surprised. Trump rambled and said a bunch of nonsense (along with some good things) but from the others there were a few gems, including encouraging parents to allow a fever rather than "treating" it.
Also from Bhattacharya a calm statement about the complexity of autism and how it's unlikely that there's one singular cause, that it's multi-factorial.
Bhattacharya, RFK, and Makary were all on the wrong side of the covid regime. I wonder if there's any camaraderie from those years.
Gardeners of Nostr, I need your advice!
In our first few years on our land I focused my planting energy on trees and shrubs, but now I finally have some perennial flowers going (yay!! very happy about that 😊). The purple agastaches in the foreground have been blooming all summer and are always full of butterflies and bees.
Here's the question: how do I handle winter for the perennial flowers? With trees and shrubs, I obviously know where they are even in winter and can mulch around the trunk and keep weeds at bay in early spring -but since these flowers will die back to the ground in the winter, I'm not quite sure how folks keep track of where they are and handle winter prep. Should I mulch around where they are now? or mark the spots with flags? or just cover everything and hope that they poke through the mulch in the spring?
