Inside the Atrium of "La Pedrera"(Casa Milà) in Barcelona image The building was commissioned in 1906 by Pere Milà and his wife Roser Segimon. The building did not respect any rules of conventional style, for which Gaudí received much criticism. To begin with, the name "La Pedrera" is in fact a nickname assigned by the citizens who disapproved of its unusualness. The unique structure of the building and the relationship between the building's architect and Pere Milà became the object of ridicule for the people of Barcelona and many humorous publications of the time. Casa Milà is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Works of Antoni Gaudí". #art #plebs #photography #photostr #plebchain #artstr #picoftheday #gm

Proof of Candle Castells are human towers built by members of amateur groups, usually as part of annual festivities in Catalonian towns and cities. The traditional setting is the square in front of the town hall balcony. The human towers are formed by castellers standing on the shoulders of one another in a succession of stages (between six and ten). Each level of the tronc, the name given to the second level upwards, generally comprises two to five heavier built men supporting younger, lighter-weight boys or girls. The pom de dalt – the three uppermost levels of the tower – comprises young children. Anyone is welcome to form the pinya, the throng that supports the base of the tower. #art #plebs #photography #photostr #plebchain #artstr #picoftheday #gm

Proof of Signal image This white tower was built for Telefónica to transmit television coverage of the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona. It was designed by Santiago Calatrava, with construction taking place from 1989 to 1992. Because of the tower's orientation, it works also as a giant sundial, which uses the Europa Square to indicate the hour. #art #plebs #photography #photostr #plebchain #artstr #picoftheday #gm
