A Quaker into decentralization, permaculture, simplicity, peace. Exploring the world one step at a time. Seeker of truth, separating facts from fiction. Always curious, often wandering. Here to learn, listen and grow. Opinions are works-in-progress. Will walk long distances for good conversation.

Mutual tolerance is the price of liberty.
Quakers don't have a creed. We believe the Spirit is dynamic and our understanding can change over time.
Nationalism overrides morality and becomes a religion stronger than any church.
We are not individuals; that's why death scares us.
Nothing learned from a book is worth anything until it's used and verified in life.

"We become better teachers not by filling the potholes in our souls, but by knowing them well enough to avoid falling into them."
~ Parker Palmer, #Quaker
Fedimints and Cashu are exciting for their their potential to create local, resilient, community-focused economies. Pairing that with the ideas of Will Ruddick from Grassroots Economics:
"Here is a simulation of a transition from the current economic system into one that is more polycentric - via pooling vouchers of agents with mycorrhizal fungal network growth functions. In this simulation we look at the survival of nodes (via a heat map) in linear supply chains vs networks.
With typical market dynamics local communities are vulnerable. With a web-like network you can provide a lot more economic security. "
"Who am I?" versus "Whose am I?"
Vocation is not a goal to achieve, but a gift to receive. It's about accepting our true self, not becoming something we're not. (Parker Palmer, #Quaker)
Mistakes and wrong turns can hold important clues to our vocation. Our lives are experiments with truth.
When I was a kid so much life was packed into a single day. Now I feel like the years fly by. One day my daughter is born. I blink and she's a teenager carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders.

#quaker #meetinghouseLife moves forward unevenly. Sudden flashes of insight change your direction forever. But it also moves patiently along with the daily grind of waking up and going to bed and everything in between. If you show up every day, you stack another brick and hopefully you can look back and see a foundation one day. Everything built on that foundation last varying lengths, but the foundation is crucial. Perhaps you want to tear down the house and rebuild. You'll rebuild on that foundation. It never really leaves you. You can count on it.
