“Synergy” is such a corporate grifter word. I automatically distrust anyone tossing these horrendous buzzwords around. “Let’s circle back when we have more bandwidth to touch base so we can leverage synergies, drill down into that low hanging fruit and in order to pivot to display our core competencies for a scalable win win with a value-add that moves the needle”. Cashless restaurants and bars are peak fiat authoritarianism. Over the weekend, a bartender hesitated to take cash for a beer, saying the place “mostly” operates on cards. They still accept cash but prefer plastic, and apparently struggle to make change. Government-issued cuckbucks are still legal tender even if they are trash. I should be able to swap a few pieces of paper for a cold pint. The forced cashless approach isn’t convenience. It’s coercion. Freedom means being able to choose how we transact. When the only way to pay is through permissioned rails, you don’t own your money…you are just renting access. I love how Bitcoin is the big middle finger to all of it. Cash, Cards, etc. Unstoppable, unconfiscatable, boarderless, permissionless and no gatekeepers. It doesn’t ask permission. It honors the ability to save, spend and transact on your terms. Would I exchange sats for a pint? Yeah, maybe. Maybe not. Maybe GFY. In a world of plastic obedience and paper IOUs, optionality reins. Fiat or otherwise. Played ignorant and asked a recent graduate with a finance degree about bitcoin. He said it’s not a great financial tool or investment because it has a capped supply, and the entire financial system requires new money to grease the wheels of the economy. Safe, and without worry. Almost a weightlessness to it all. Ignorance was bliss. Time didn’t exist. I just couldn’t wait to grow old. And here I am - I have arrived. We’ve outsourced too much: our responsibilities, our opinions and our critical thinking. In areas like health, education, and finance, we’ve handed over the keys to the “experts,” and in doing so, we’ve dulled our own capacity for critical thought. Most people have no idea what they’re talking about: the art of bullshitting. Systems in place have an angle - one that’s often extractive, exploitative and deceptive. We’re floating on a rock in the middle of a vast cosmic unknown, where the dominant strategy seems to be: deceive, extract, and consume as much as you can before disappearing into the void. It’s a bizarre, high time preference game that’s cooked into a vast number of people via the fiat mind virus. I made a note a few months back but in sum, I’ve had two major IRL fraudulent situations occur over the last year. One of them being a dentist who claimed I had 8 cavities - come to find out upon a second opinion that I had none. Secondly, an Occupational Therapist for my kids - who were balance billing and fraudulently charging us for fake visits. Also - at least 2 phishing attempts. Increasingly, it feels like trusting anyone is a losing bet. Due diligence and a heavy dose of skepticism is key. Of course us bitcoiners are already primed for these situations. Thankfully - the Bitcoin mindset and framework doesn’t demand blind trust. All we can trust is our inner compass. Do what’s right for yourself, your family, your community. In a world built on illusion, that might be the only real strategy that makes any sense. As far as the deceivers and extractors? They can kick rocks. #DontTrustVerify #Bitcoin
