It’s great seeing the advertising business models slowly topple… Twitter, Reddit… unsustainable businesses without an expensive walled garden approach. Funny part is I don’t even think it’s caused by Nostr.. it’s caused by market saturation, and inability to create new value for continued growth. They are slowly dying by capitalism’s “the weak starve” property. Less advertising doesn’t directly mean less privacy invasive data collection and spying.. but certainly takes away some of its capture value.

I can’t speak to the service itself, but stumbled upon Nostr Relay as a Service. weirdly the price period isn’t listed. Member focused/private relays are likely to become more like mastodon instances. Which may sound problematic, but your data is still yours, and your identity is not locked in. People who want a moderated experience will have relay tools to assist. https://bitcoinnews.com/relay-farm/

An interesting Nostr feature could be time warp - where you pick a past date and your client basically loads events from that period. Maybe interesting as a global filter, or maybe even just on a per identity basis - what was pubkey X saying 900 days ago? Re-live new years every day, or check if someone you follow used to promote shitcoins.

I can’t see why this approach can’t work for Nostr in a decentralised world. When identities update their profile, client apps can optionally accept the photo/name changes. Kind of like the original pet names NIP concept, extended to include photo. image
