🇮🇪IT architect, taking some time out to recharge.
#GM. And so it begins. 🌐 Ireland’s Digital ID Rollout & How to Opt-Out You might have seen the news regarding Ireland's provisional rollout of the European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet under the eIDAS 2.0 framework. While the state pushes for 100% digitization, the architecture behind it relies on centralized chokepoints. Fortunately, the regulations and the technology itself leave clear vectors for non-compliance and data sovereignty. Here is how you can resist adoption and maintain an offline/sovereign identity footprint for as long as possible: 1. Leverage the Legal "Right to Opt-Out" The text of the eIDAS 2.0 Regulation explicitly mandates that the acquisition and use of the European Digital Identity Wallet must remain entirely voluntary. Public Services: Government agencies are legally prohibited from denying you access to public services, welfare, or taxation platforms if you refuse the wallet. Legacy options (like MyGovID or physical docs) must be maintained. No Discrimination: Public and private entities cannot penalize you or charge differential fees for choosing analog verification over the digital wallet. 2. Maximize the Transition Timelines The enforcement timeline is tiered, meaning you can phase out of compliance sequentially rather than all at once: The Pilot Phase (Current): Participation is strictly opt-in. Ignore the notifications. The Government Deadline (End of 2026): This mandates that the state must make the wallet available; it does not force citizens to download it. The Private Sector Mandate (Late 2027/2028): Large online platforms (VLOPs) and regulated industries (banks, utilities) won't be fully required to accept it until much later. Stick to legacy verification methods during this window. 3. Maintain Analog and Air-Gapped Fallbacks To combat "functional creep" (where legacy systems are made intentionally frustrating to force adoption), proactively fortify your offline identity: Keep Physical Documents Valid: Renew your passport, public services card (PSC), and driving license early to secure long expiration dates. Request Paper-First Options: Opt for physical paper statements for utilities, banking, and revenue correspondence to bypass digital credential linking. 4. Insulate Your Hardware and OS The EUDI wallet acts as a cryptographic app relying on hardware-level attestation (Secure Enclave/Titan chips). Controlling your environment breaks their deployment model: De-Googled OS: Operating systems like GrapheneOS or CalyxOS lack proprietary Google Play Services. Because state wallets rely heavily on these frameworks for identity binding, running a hardened, local-first OS often makes the official apps functionally incompatible by default. App Isolation: If practical realities ever force you to use a specific state app, run it inside a tightly sandboxed work profile, or isolate it on a dedicated, secondary "burner" device that remains powered down and air-gapped from your primary local network. Stay sovereign. Dictate your own context. #eIDAS #DigitalID #Privacy #DataSovereignty #Ireland #GrapheneOS #OptOut image

I am happy to indulge in bread and circus whilst also knowing that the system is corrupt AF and stealing from FIAT me. More and more, bit by bit my flow to sats increases. I think France will win the world cup at this point, I know I smash bought sats today.

GM. Day 4 of trying to claw back limbo money from a brick house bank who state funds have left, sorry, and a fintech bank who say funds didn't land with us, sorry. Have to wait the full 5 business days before escalating. Hurry up BTC and just be defacto value transfer already.

GM. The Pope just dropped a 42,000-word encyclical on AI. But the timing matters. It was released exactly 135 years after Pope Leo XIII published Rerum Novarum — the landmark 1891 document on workers’ rights during the Industrial Revolution. Back then, the Church was responding to factories, mechanization, labor exploitation, and the concentration of industrial power. Today, Pope Leo XIV is arguing that AI represents a new industrial revolution — one with even deeper implications for human dignity, labor, freedom, and social order. Most people will read the headlines saying: “The Pope warns about AI.” But the actual message is more interesting. The concern isn't really the machines. It's power. Who owns the data. Who controls the algorithms. Who shapes perception. Who decides what is true. Who benefits when human judgment is replaced by machine systems. He warns about: • AI-driven propaganda and disinformation • Mass surveillance and loss of privacy • Autonomous weapons • Job displacement • Digital monopolies • The concentration of technological power in a handful of institutions Reading it through a NOSTR lens, this feels less like a document about AI and more like a document about centralization. In 1891 the question was: What happens when industrial power becomes concentrated? In 2026 the question is: What happens when intelligence, data, communication, and reality itself become concentrated? Decentralization isn't just a technical architecture. It's a human safeguard. The Pope wrote 42,000 words about AI. The entire thing can probably be compressed into one idea: Don't let powerful machines become an excuse for concentrating power in fewer human hands. #nostr #ai #bitcoin #decentralization #freedomtech
