When we were 15 and 16 they called us young women. Because we were. There was really no problem with that. Just in the last decade or so Americans have decided that biology means nothing, only the law matters. It's weird and very problematic.

We all know what coercion is. We all know what abuse of power is.
Power imbalances exist in every relationship.
The existence of a power imbalance doesn't mean that something unethical happened.
We need to stop the hysteria.
The infantilization of young adults produces a big crop of vulnerable young men and women who simply should not be vulnerable.
They should have been empowered.
A. we should make it much easier for people to report abuse of power. and we should protect those whistleblowers from retaliation.
B. we should not take the existence of a power imbalance as proof that abuse occurred. Especially if no allegation of abuse was ever raised.
