I never wanted to have to go the "ascetic" route as he has, although I respect it as somewhere between scientific self-experimentation and extreme performance art. I thought (mistakenly in the late 90's and early 00's) atomic #nanotech would advance much quicker than it has, instead most "innovation" funding this century has gone to Bits instead of Atoms. Despite this, there's always #cryonics, which continues to slowly plod along, which in combination with brain imaging (moving reasonably quickly) and continued advancements in nanotech (still moving slowly but non-zero), could I think produce a decent backup by the time I need it.

Finally got around to Attack on Titan, first two episodes... Not really doing it for me. IDK, clearly there's some interesting lore going on here but the main character is pretty grating to be around. Worth sticking with it? #anime

GM. One thing I always like about WIlliam Gibson and other good #cyberpunk sci-fi, was that the future wasn't just about "one big technology" -- genetic engineering, space colonization, cybernetics, nanotech, VR, AI, it was all one "tech soup," and humanity was living downstream of its consequences. In contrast, seems like today we're living in a bad sci-fi novel where it's just "OK we've got AI, and.... AI. That's it."

I really didn't care for Ready Player One the book, but I finally got around to watching the movie, and I enjoyed it! A bit much on the "Spielberg-ness", and could have probably chopped ~20 minutes off the runtime, but overall pretty good. The idea of a #metaverse that dominates the world economy seems goofy until you realize that, oh yeah, that's just the current reality with AI.

One thing I like about #coracle that I don't really see in other clients, is the ability to create a "global WoT" feed. Take everything, but just apply a simple low WoT threshold. I've surfaced a lot of stuff doing that I wouldn't ordinarily find.
