The fact users feel the need to state "functionality for #Nostr zapping that works in the US." is both a failure for us as a #Bitcoin community, but also in the understanding and education that people have over Bitcoin. Bitcoin cares not for borders. And if applications and services rely on them, they haven't been built correctly. It hasn't always been the case (and in which case I'd argue some were just early) but at this time there are GOOD, better options that achieve self-custody and do not discriminate based on geographical location. We can do better. We must do better. View quoted note β†’

Okay, I haven't seen this asked yet so I'm going to ask what may lead to some interesting discussion... :vegetasmirk: Long-term, what'll differentiate #cashu and #Ark, and more importantly what might make one more preferable to the other? If that's the wrong way to view it, what'll make them complement each other? Ark VTXOs seem to be very similar to ecash tokens. Both rely on #Lightning for interoperability/communication with other nodes. The main differences I see so far are: - Ark interfaces with on-chain, cashu doesn't need to. - Ark is self-custodied while cashu is not. I can make some opinionated remarks as to which I could prefer long-term, but what the general vibe? #Bitcoin

Dafuq is kaspa.... If you mine with #MARA, please take an introspective break and consider this. If you find you do have some shred #integrity, of values to hold onto, where #greed doesn't control you, but you can control it, switch to another pool, preferably one with less #hashrate. Help the #Bitcoin network now, so it helps you longer-term. It's always been a low-time-preference thing, even for a #miner, as much as the big pools (along with #FPPS) have tried to normalize that it isn't. image

I've seen UK-based donations campaigns for #Assange asking for Β£520k... I've seen US-based donation campaigns asking for $520k... Wouldn't be surprised if there's an Australian one for $520k AUD. Which one is it? I feel this may be a layer 8 example where most people don't understand the money they use in the first place. That, or I'm missing something...

You run an #Umbrel OS server? See, years ago Umbrel was bashed on for their very, very bad implementation of Samourai's Dojo. After looking into it, it prompted me to never touch Umbrel again. Their architecture has also received numerous criticisms over the years due to security issues. This is just the next step. Draw the line. There are alternatives that are downright better than this, such as #Start9. Money MUST be simple. It MUST simply work. YOUR #Bitcoin #node is your GATEWAY to a payments network, it's a BRIDGE for your money, and it is YOUR ARBITER OF TRUTH. "Bitcoin-only" isn't just about maximalism, it's about taking a #KISS approach where necessary to ensure optimal results. image

You know how people's attention span has declined considerably? And you also know how people just want to keep busy with whatever is on offer, consuming as much as possible? I have a feeling that's why so many "diversify" into shitcoins. Keeping up with #Bitcoin developments isn't enough....... Which they don't anyway, not when so many don't even know what #Lightning or #Ark is. So they fail on two accounts, not just one. No discipline, no focus. It's a last-ditch throw-shit-and-see-what-sticks "strategy".

I think the 'clicking' point for many new Bitcoiners is when they realise that regardless of time past, regardless of what's of the media regardless of the 9 to 5 monotony, regardless of everything that changes (or not really) on a day by day basis, regardless of the things they can no longer afford, regardless of the debt they keep burying themselves into... Those damn blocks just keep getting mined. Permissionless order amidst the chaos, dictated by math with rules but no rulers. It's something truly beautiful. #Bitcoin
