The Mermaid
She came from the darkness,
From the depths of the sea.
Her mind full of jungle;
Vine, root, and tree.
Her skin kissed the sun
And made love to the air.
Notions set by the tides,
Leaving salt in her hair.
But every so often,
When she falls asleep,
Her soul leaves for the stars,
Her body sinks back to the deep.
She wanted to be free
To see what her subconscious could do.
To disconnect from the sun
And return to the blue.
But her mind left for the pines,
Leaving her thoughts in the sand.
While her soul remained here,
Lost in neverland.
