Bumble Bees poke themself into these flower’s Bee-holes. Do you call them beardtongue or penstemon? image

Multiple Asclepias viridis flowering simultaneously could mean seed pods in the future. However, pollination is done mechanically with insects doing the complicated task. Fortunate for us that the penstemon is nearby to attract the bumble bee! image

If the primrose blooms at night. Then I must visit the primrose at night. Them’s the rules. image

Picking strawberries at night an eating them in the morning. In this way I stay a day ahead of the birds. I could get used to this schedule.

Brassica is a genus of plants in the mustard family. It includes many commonly eaten vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, and turnips. Brassica’s (Brassicaceae) host the caterpillars of the white butterflies (Pieris). In early May I found a cabbage white butterfly egg on the broccoli leaf. I hadn’t look closely at the kale but it has a caterpillar as well. image

Hall’s milkweed seedlings continue to grow. I’m a little concerned for how they will harden off when I take them outside. To distract me I’ll just start more milkweed from seed. image
