GM nostriches! Yesterday I did manage to do 3 hours of earthworks, but forgot to take pictures, so no #proofofwork ๐Ÿ˜… Might report later if there's interest in it. Today we have morning fog, so mysterious. I love fog, it temporarily erases our existence kind off, living in a silent fog bubble, a strange gray world where you can't see far. I did not start tracking foggy days yet in farmOS, but should, as it is a percipitation event in this dry climate, everything is super wet. Maybe I can get some more earthworks in today ๐Ÿค” It felt quite powerful, every move made it so more water can be stored and less runoff will occur, for the next who knows how many years ๐Ÿคฏ When this part is finished seeds can be sown and then the long wait fir a rain event begins... 100s of hours of thinking 3 hours of work years of water infiltration. Do your earthworks first! Stacking Drops ๐Ÿ˜‰ #justdoit #farmstr #gm #plebstr #grownostr #permaculture #dothework image

Anybody here running farmOS? I have, for almost 3 years and am super happy with it. I use it to - visualize the land and its features with its map - log all animal and plant observations - log seedings and harvests - log the building of water catchement and other things and how well they work - follow some trees planted from seed years ago many many uses and quite easy to operate. If you have not heard of it, go check it out. FarmOS is open source, has friendly helpful devs and is easy to expand on (drupal). If you dont feel like running your own instance, the maintainer runs #gardening #farming #permaculture #selfhost #diy #opensource image

GM!! โ˜•โ˜•๐ŸŒ„๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ Time to Get Movin' ๐Ÿ˜„. Hope I find some time today to do some work on the land. But first one โ˜•, probably two coffees โ˜•โ˜• Both sea and mountain views are never the same day to day, every morning is a surprise. Today thick fog in the distance, one of my favorites. #coffeechain #plebchain image

kiwis, 1 pear tree, 200 citrus and 50ish beans planted and some water diversion added to the farm. I love planting perennials, especially when taking the time to find a good spot and seeing then thrive, no, survive the brutal summers and droughts. Baby steps sometimes but with bigger results. Plan 100 hours work maybe 2.5 ๐Ÿ™‚ #permaculture #proofofwork #gardening image

After 2 years of #permaculture observation of the land, I feel ready to tackle #earthworks. Maybe today I take a babystep by scraping a water catchement feature on the top of the land. The hard part in this #arid #climate is "planning/designing for a flood". Lat year we got 1 rain event causing runoff, tha5t's when you need to be present and be outside to watch where water flows, how much runoff there is and so forth. It is a bit frustrating sometimes planning ahead so far in the future, but, when you know what to expect and build a water catchement feature when it's bone dry and wait 3 months for the rains to come... when they do come and your carefully designed feature works... that moves my heart and makes me silly happy! This test canal has #apple #trees planted from #seed in it, and the survived theirs first year which was a very dry one. The next improvement on this system or feature is designing/improving a solution for catching #silt. Now there is a wider part just before the catchement reservoir (canal) and it catches some but not enough. Any ideas? #nature #homesteading #farm #desing #proofofwork #grownostr #sharingiscaring image
