To my view, the "personal brand" in the workplace serves as a moral buffer. It's a form of objectification. One use of objects is to circumvent morality; we can do with objects what we cannot (or won't allow ourselves to) do with one another (e.g. slavery). Why is it important not to be viewed as individuals in a corporate setting, but rather a bundle of promises and expectations (i.e. a brand)?
