I'm going on two months of using Proton's Lumo as my primary AI and honestly, I'm not looking back. Before this, Perplexity was my main AI because I found its answers to be particularly helpful on technical subjects. It sources things very well and tends to have the best overall answers with technical topics. However, it's a Big Tech AI service: it's inherently horrible for privacy. While my Perplexity account is pseudonymous (email alias, no connections to me, personally) and I only ever use it for things like tech troubleshooting and research, it's still not good for privacy. Before I decided to give Lumo a proper try, I had been using Venice AI. It's a privacy-respecting AI service with end-to-end encryption options and uncensored model options. At its core, it's a very solid service itself, but the main problem with it is that it has severe restrictions on free users: only ten text queries allowed per day. That's an absurdly low cap. Worse still, their lowest plan is $18/month. I use AI a fair amount but not enough to justify an $18/month subscription plan. When Lumo was first launched, I found it to be pretty useless. It hallucinated constantly, the UI/UX was barebones, it just wasn't a great experience. However, when Lumo 2.0 dropped, things changed. Now, it feels nearly on par with Perplexity in terms of information and sourcing, and the UI/UX is actually excellent now. I find it to be very rare that I ever have to use a different AI, even with their free plan restrictions, and I'm even to the point where I'm considering subscribing precisely because I don't feel like I'm exploited as a free user. Their subscription is ~$10/month, by the way: significantly cheaper than just about every other AI option out there, as even the cheapest alternatives are still heavily restricted. It'd be nice if word filters didn't hide our own posts like that.

Chuck's only crime was covering a Linux distro leftists dislike. That's it. Instead of ignoring it, they bullied him, dug into his past, harassed him (and seemingly threatened him). He does the Christian thing and addresses the issues between him and these folks. What do they do in response? Leak the private conversation and bully him further. Why? Because he didn't "apologize" (again, he did no wrong) and because he didn't recant his Christian views on marriage and things like gay marriage. Heck, he even specified that his views on these issues have morphed a bit, and that his focus now is only on loving other people as Christ loves them. But again, because he didn't apologize and recant his views entirely, these psychos are still attacking him. These people are insufferable, despicable, evil individuals. Chuck does nothing but help other people and present good vibes, but because he covered a Linux distribution by a guy who has some right-wing views, and because Chuck himself is a Christian, they go after him. I used to be against the whole "anti-woke Linux" concept because Linux is open source and meant for everyone, but actions like this are precisely why we need distros like Omarchy in the first place. The infosec and open source communities have been completely overrun with militant leftists, femboys, furries, etc. who refuse to accept anyone with even slightly less left-leaning opinions and more than that, they will bully you, dox you, and even threaten you. Heaven forbid you be Christian and have even slightly conservative views in either space! Because they'll make sure you know how unwelcome you are. We can't coexist with people like this. I refuse to, especially after what they've been doing to Chuck. Again, this is why we desperately need projects like Omarchy which fly straight in the face of these freaks. I already don't care for Discord but the fact that you have to enter an "are you human" challenge literally EVERY time you claim a quest reward makes the whole platform even more unappealing to use.

I really hate how Youtube defaults captions to be on now. For people who don't stay signed in unless I need to do something specific, that gets really annoying. I see it as further evidence of this ADHD society needing to have captions to actually comprehend what a video is saying. We already had data that suggests that the majority of people keep captions on while streaming, which is sad enough in my eyes. To be clear, I don't have a problem with people enabling captions if their hearing is impaired; obviously, that's the whole point of the captions. However, if you don't have hearing issues and the video is in your native language, WHY do you keep the captions enabled?

I'm thoroughly convinced that the collective IQ of most of modern civilization is dangerously low.

I know the OSI Model offers more complexity with classifications and such, but I massively prefer the TCP/IP Model because it's simpler to recall in your memory. #networking

As a huge fan of skeuomorphism, Aero Glass and the Y2K/Frutiger Aero aesthetics, I absolutely love seeing those coming back. I'm seeing it returning to tech aesthetics, I'm seeing it in some commercial artwork. More blur, more glossy designs, an increase in color and prismatic color schemes, with diminishing minimalistic flat design garbage. I hope the trend continues. Even so, if I could give one bit of advice to designers who haven't caught on to the shift or still use the flat design crap...

Kali Linux's documentation is absolutely excellent. It feels like the Arch Wiki in the sense that I could see myself making use of their documentation even if I were to switch to ParrotOS as my main hacking distro.

I have a free trial of Amazon Music right now and I'm reminded of why I hate streaming. The app sucks, the audio quality is sub-par, why would I ever pay for a subscription to it? 🤦‍♂️ VLC with local storage, Bandcamp with some downloads, and RiPlay for remaining streaming needs.
