So, I found out an annoying thing about older Mac Minis: you can't use Ventoy to install an OS on it. You HAVE to use something like BalenaEtcher or Rufus. For some reason, I could only get to the Ventoy menu if I ran Grub2 but trying to launch an ISO gave me an error talking about Secure Boot (which isn't even enabled). Once I burned a distro to a different thumb drive using BalenaEtcher, I was able to get everything working fine. Not the end of the world but it kinda sucks having to use up a thumb drive for a singular distro install like this. #linux #mac #apple #macmini #homelab

I love Amethyst and want to keep using it, but lately, I've noticed four issues lately: 1. It keeps causing signer spam for various events, even ones I've approved as "always". 2. Sometimes, the app has major lag issues, like the framerate suddenly dips to single digits. 3. My custom reaction emojis keep getting reset almost constantly. 4. Feed algorithms simply don't load anymore. These issues persist despite reinstalling. Any ideas on how to fix these? #asknostr

It's a bit early in the year to dig into hojicha (Japanese roasted green tea) but I was in the mood tonight. I forgot how much I enjoy this flavor! It's like coffee and chocolate in terms of flavor profiles, but much more subtle and layered. Most people think of sencha when they think of Japanese tea, and that's understandable: standard, steamed green teas really are the supermajority of Japanese teas, but hojicha is very common in Japan during the autumn weather. For me, it is probably one of the most signature flavors of that season (which is why I said it's a bit early). I grabbed a bag of this shincha (first flush Japanese green tea) and I'm very pleased with it. The first infusion starts with a nutty and vegetal profile, fading toward more of the nutty notes (hazelnut, as the site specifies) and a bit of a sweet corn note. By the second infusion, the tea morphs toward the floral sweetness and light minerality that the site also specifies. A very well grown and harvested tea from Yakushima! Very pleased with this shincha.
