So much for California pretending to care about privacy.

Today, after I got on X for the first time of the day, I liked a single post and my account was suspended for "inauthentic behaviors".
I did some more research on this and found out that this is not uncommon. There have been thousands of people that have reported this issue mostly in the last two months and they reported also that their appeals would be rejected and you would have to continually appeal multiple times. Not only this, but I heard some people say that you might have to even verify with X to get your account restored.
I didn't really care for the centralized model of that platform to begin with, and I think there are a lot of issues with the platform. The main reason I stay on it is because I have a lot of people on there that I like to talk to that aren't on other alternatives such as Nostr. Quite frankly, X has been on a downward spiral for a while now, and I wish that I could get my friends to hop on over to other platforms, but unfortunately I can't.
This is the price of AI-based moderation. I understand having systems that flag accounts for suspicious behavior, but suspensions need to be handed out by actual humans.
Where do I go from here? I have already submitted an appeal, and I will continue to submit appeals as long as I can to get that account restored. If the account is restored, I will be contacting all of my close friends and reaching out to them to figure out ways we can have alternative communications just in case this happens again.
After this, I certainly no longer plan to use the platform much other than to talk to those people. I will definitely not be submitting any sort of ID verification or anything like that if that's what they try to push me to do.
After all, how is X supposedly the home of free speech on the internet if they just ban people for automatic reasons and don't have a human moderation team taking a look at why those bans were happening in the first place?
At least here, I don't have to worry about that. My account is fully under MY control and MY ownership.

This is alarming. Browsers need to find a way to make this impossible because that's a whole new level of fingerprinting.
