The whole premise of a privacy company is "trust us." Here's a reminder of why that's a fragile guarantee. Mullvad's co-founder and co-owner, Daniel Berntsson, personally donated 5 million SEK to Örebropartiet, a Swedish party that campaigns on "large-scale return migration" (mass deportation) and that the anti-racism foundation Expo places on the far-right. Largest single private donation to any Swedish party in 2025. (He frames it as reluctant, says his ideal is free movement. The money still moved.) I don't route my traffic through a company so I can re-vet the owners' politics every year. The point of good privacy infrastructure is that you don't have to. Two people owning the whole stack is a single point of trust, and it just shifted. That's the structural case for a mixnet.
